I've done board & train and in home training and the progress George has made since starting with them has been incredible—he’s calmer, listens so much better, and our walks are actually enjoyable now. We’ve been working with Ty at Bow Wow Behavioral for almost a year, and we can’t say enough good things! Our 4-year-old rescue dog struggled with leash reactivity/aggression, and Ty has made such a huge difference. Ty and Laura both are amazing. I did the 5 week pack and it made a HUGE difference in my rescue's behavior AND I learned so many tips from them and the sessions you can take away and use even when you are done with the sessions! I use the tips every day and I learned an immense amount about my dog! They really take the time to get to know you, your dog, and your dogs quirks and personality and they cater their training style to that and can adapt on the fly! If you are looking for training for any type of dog and any age, seriously, don't think twice about it and work with them!!!

I had a young dog showing signs of fear-based reactivity to people. I did in-home training sessions. Ty's uses both negative and positive reinforcement methods, but the focus was on becoming the Alpha so that my dog would be less fearful. This included corrections to barking with levels of escalation ("uh-uh", "no", finally spray bottle) and fairly aggressive leash corrections, etc. I have to say it FELT wrong to me to introduce these types of negative corrections to an already very anxious dog, but he seems very knowledgeable. After a month of using his methods, and my dog's fear-based reactivity escalating, my dog ended up biting a friend in the face. I've since learned that if we suppress their "warning signs" dogs will skip the warning and move to the next level of escalation. Levels of escalation was never something we discussed and I'm sad about that. I felt like I was doing the right thing for my dog by reaching out to a behavior specialist before things got worse, but these training methods did not help my dog. Since I've used desensitization training and he's much calmer and happier, and he trusts me because I no longer spray him in the face with water or jerk his leash. I left some of my sessions unused, and know others who have had similar experiences to me.
