Canine Athletics Training Center

I have thoroughly enjoyed Basic Manners and Advanced Manners classes with Brooklynn. She presents skills in steps that lead to success and has a keen eye for each dog’s strengths, offering individual insights that are easy to understand. I’ve never used professional training for a dog before (lots with horses) but my 2 year old rescue is the perfect fit for all we have learned. I plan to continue classes at Canine Athletics in order to keep my pup’s busy brain happy and active.

I'm grateful to finally have a dog training place in my area and I'm relieved it's such a good establishment! Small local business, woman owned, bad ass, impressively knowledgeable, and classes are a blast for me and my dog! This is such a great place! The instructors really are experts and they make the classes fun and very informative for both the human handler and the doggo. How they set up the classes, at least for the sports prep class (prerequisite to most other classes), there's an open space in the middle of the room with gated off sections on both ends of the room. Depending on how many students there are, the instructor has the handlers and their dogs in each corner and if the class is big enough, a handler and dog in each gated area so there's no interacting between dogs. I think the lack of interactions between the dogs is to greatly reduce risk of behavioral issues, and to help the dog know it's training time, not play time. The instructor teaches the handler what to do, why, how, tips, guidance, etc before giving the handler time to practice with their dog. In the sports prep class, the lessons were usually taught in a way where a handler and their dog would go into one of the two gated off areas to practice the lesson off leash. Depending on the lesson, there were typically things the handlers could practice on leash, in their seating corner, while they waited their turn for the off leash practice area. If we were having trouble, the instructor would help and give suggestions or tips. It was a lot of knowledge in each class! I appreciated that the classes were on a weekly basis so I had time to practice everything with my dog. The instructor was patient and worked with us where we were at, even if we forgot to practice. I had Kirsten as my instructor, who's also the owner, and she was absolutely fabulous 🙌🏼 I'll go out of my way to take her classes again! I just finished my sports prep class today and I've already signed up for both agility basics and rally - I'm so excited to keep learning and bonding with my dog!
