Canine Inspired Change

Updated 12/2025 Since July, we have taken four different classes at CIC (Puppy Class, Recall Call, Tweeners, and Foundations) with our puppy. Each of the classes has been so unique and a really positive experience for us. All the trainers (Taylor, Beth, Sydney) have curated a welcoming environment and helped us learn more skills. What stands out to me the most is that the trainers facilitate a non-judgmental learning environment that supports growth for the human and the pup. I can’t think of another training school in the area that does that. I would highly recommend all of the classes we have taken thus far. Recall Class Recall class was an all around super fun class that was high energy and positive vibes all around. We worked on emergency recall and understanding how to create a strong and predictable recall. I would definitely recommend this course if you want a fun class that also works on a practical skills. Tweeners Class: We took tweeners a month or two after we finished the puppy class. Beth did a great job explaining what to expect for adolescence and practical ways to handle this developmental stage for our puppy. Compared to puppy class, it was more calm class and it provided us opportunities to work on settling around other dogs and develop dog neutrality. I’m glad we took this class before foundations. Foundations Class: Foundations is basic obedience class and less curated to a specific skills (e.g recall)or a specific developmental period (think puppy class and tweeners). I thought it covered some really practical skills including waiting at door thresholds. We also had opportunities to practice loose leash walking. My dog was around 7 months when we started. It was our largest classes (with 7 other dogs). We were able to proof some of the skills we worked on in other classes as well as pick up some new ones. First Review 08/2025 We had a wonderful experience with Taylor and Beth at CIC! The puppy class was thoughtfully curated and tailored to meet each puppy where they were. We not only learned the classic puppy skills, but also practical tools—like pattern games—that we can continue to use during the teenage years. Each week included new objects and experiences, from meeting people with crutches to being introduced to kids and new faces, helping the puppies build confidence. At the end of each class, there was even a bit of playtime for the puppies. Taylor and Beth also shared a wealth of useful information on navigating fear periods, recognizing appropriate play and handling for groomer and vet visits. We left the class with more knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to support our puppy’s growth. We can't recommend this class enough and look forward to taking more classes at CIC!
