FirstBarkCIC offers an amazingly welcome environment for people and dogs. They have a wonderful dog centered approach to their training and my dog and I are very excited to volunteer with them after completing the therapy dog training course!

About Canine Inspired Change
Canine Inspired Change (CIC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving vulnerable youth the social-emotional tools they need to be active participants in their schools and their communities. Our work helps these remarkable young people transcend trauma, social struggles and isolation by sparking meaningful connections with dogs, volunteers and each other. Our innovative and successful program focuses on social-emotional learning to give students the tools to better self-regulate in the classroom and in life. Through customizable sessions, we partner with schools and organizations in the Twin Cities to offer programming that connects with their young learners.

The play clinic is soooooo good! My pup is afraid of other dogs because he's been jumped a few times by bigger dogs, so I have been looking for opportunities to help him learn that not all dogs are scary. Sydney is very knowledgeable about dog behavior and does a great job of educating humans about reading their dog's body language and ensuring interactions are positive. The class is very well structured and there is no pressure for dogs to engage with each other if they're not ready. Sydney is readily able to adapt the format to meet the needs of dogs wherever they're at on the play or reactivity spectrums.

My dog and I recently graduated the foundations class. Sydney was our instructor and she was amazing! Her positive outlook, advice, instructional methods and encouragement, boosted my confidence in achieving the skills with my dog. Her tips for keeping our dogs engaged worked so well and her demonstrations and sharing her first hand experiences were invaluable. I really appreciated her insights on looking at things from our dogs’ perspectives and needs. I highly recommend this program, am grateful to have found it, and am looking so forward to our therapy team training coming up! I love my dog so very much, and the prospect of us being able to serve others makes this program so unique and special.

Back in about 2018 or so, Canine Inspired Change helped us to certify our dog, Spot, to become a therapy dog, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish! Spot went on to be the first therapy dog at several different organizations, and got to spend her days making people feel accepted and loved... So, now that we have a puppy named Piper at home, we didn't even think about calling anyone else, but went straight back to CIC. Piper graduated from their Foundational Skills class, and continued her training with CIC to become a certified therapy dog as well - and now Piper gets to spend her days blessing people and making them smile! THANK YOU SO MUCH, CIC - your team is amazing, and the work you do makes a difference in the lives of both dogs and people every day! Steve, Tara, Spot, and Piper BTW, if you're reading this review and wondering where you should take your dog for training, you just found it!
