Canine Karma Dog Training

Canine Karma Dog Training literally changed our lives. That sounds incredibly exaggerated, but honestly it really did. We got a breed (well technically mixed breed dog - German Sheppard - Belgian Malinois) that we didn’t know a whole lot about. We you tubed how to “train” our dog obedience commands. He did “GREAT”. Sit - check, Down - check, Paw - check, Leave it - check. I think you understand where I am going with this. We “tried” to socialize him and thought we were doing great. UNTIL we weren’t. Our sweet cuddly pup became reactive, and aggressive, both towards people and dogs. We knew we didn’t have “anything” under control with him. I googled board and train near me and found Canine Karma, literally right down the road from us in Stafford, VA. I watched videos, and read every single review, and “immediately” emailed them. We got a call back almost immediately. We could tell that David was a very professional (and very serious) trainer. During the consult my dog didn’t disappoint showing his bad behaviors. David told us everything that had to stop before bringing him to their board and train. All of the bad habits we let him have, with him explaining the importance of our relationship with the dog. When the day finally came for us to drop him off, it felt like a huge burden was lifted, not meaning getting rid of my dog, but knowing we were going to have a dog that was given the proper training and we would be provided with the education on how to keep building that relationship enforcing the training they provided. Sierra, Isabel, and David texted, sent picture, and videos telling/showing us his progress and asking us questions about him every step of the way. It was/is very clear this isn’t just a business of “training” your dog, but training us - the owner on how to build a solid relationship with our dog. They did an “Amazing” job with Grizzly. We can’t thank them enough for all they have done for him and us. Canine Karma made it possible for us to keep what we thought was an impossible dog. Thank you!!!!

Dave and Isabela are a fantastic couple to work with. They are truly in this profession because they love people and their pets and want to help create the best relationship possible between the two. I always said I would NEVER do a board and train and started off with in home lessons for one of my dogs. Dave offered me so much wisdom, insight and trust I ended up sending 2 dogs for a board and train. But it’s so much more than that, both Dave and Isabela have given me much much more than I paid for, with continued guidance and check ins. Working with Canine Karma isn’t just sending your dog away to training, it’s investing into ongoing support to curate the best possible relationship between you and your dog. One of my dogs was a rescue brought in on the brink of euthanasia and he is now a confident, happy, and trustworthy dog. My other dog has come SO far with dog aggression and while I still have my struggles with him I get continued support and guidance from Canine Karma on how I can make a better and more successful environment for him. They’ve helped me become a better dog owner and to have happier, healthier dogs. I cannot recommend Canine Karma enough!

I can’t say enough good things about Canine Karma! My husband and I have always been hesitant about going through with a board and train program for our dog (it’s hard to leave them with strangers) but they were so great about answering every question and super transparent during every step of the process. We received regular updates, photos and videos every step of the way. You can tell that David and Isabela really do this for the love of dogs-they cared for and educated our dog Gus for 30 days and have continued to assist and educate us as owners ever since, as promised! Gus came back to us a more happy, healthy, obedient and confident dog. We were also excited to learn we could board Gus with them after going through training and have since utilized those services as well, its great to have the peace of mind that our furry family member is being cared for exactly like they would at home!

We have a 4 year old Mini Australian Shepherd, Molly, who had reactivity and aggression towards other dogs and people. She was also very disobedient and anxious. It got to a point where we almost had to rehome her. Luckily, my sisters dog did Canine Karmas board and train and had amazing results so I decided it was time to contact them. After the first phone call, we followed Dave’s advice and immediately saw a change. We had a backwards relationship with Molly and she thought she was in charge of protecting us. After putting Dave’s advice into effect, she realized we were the ones who had to do the protecting and became a lot more obedient. While at the board and train, Dave and Isabela made us feel at ease. It’s not easy being away from your dog for 45 days but it helped knowing Molly was in good hands. We received updates with pictures and videos and received very fast responses. Molly actually looked happy and less anxious being there. She was now getting adequate rest, training, and exercise. The day we picked up Molly, we were given all of the proper tools in order to continue with Molly’s training at home. Today, Molly is a very obedient dog and has not been reactive to any dogs or humans. She now goes in and out of her crate without any issues, can hold a place command (and actually likes it), can go on walks without reacting to dogs walking by, and is now neutral to humans. She is also significantly less anxious. Canine Karma Training was the best decision we could have made. We cannot thank each and every one of the trainers enough for helping us. They really changed our lives forever.
