Cold Creek Dog Training

I had a great experience with Cold Creek! I did the Puppy Primer with my 6mo old mix. I learned a lot of new information and tricks how to train my puppy. We had Cindi. She took time to do the tell-show-do method with training my dog which was super helpful. She also asked what I wanted to work on each week which gave me the opportunity to review tasks I needed extra help with. Communication and flexibility was great. Highly recommend!

When we first met Jasper, my wife picked him up to hold him, and he immediately cuddled up under her neck. We fell in love with him immediately. However, once we brought him home, we began to realize how fearful and reactive he was. (We finally put it together much later that he was not cuddling under my wife's chin, but actually was cowering.) There's no brief way to fully describe the struggles that we went through those first months. We both were raised with dogs as pets, and Jasper was our fourth dog as a married couple. But Jasper was very different. He didn't trust us, wouldn't let us pet him, and was very reactive any time that we tried to take him anywhere or if anyone came to our house. My wife became scared of him. It was really rough on her emotional health. We tried following "positive-only" dog training videos and visited a PO dog trainer, but we realized that very little that they said worked in our situation. Then we discovered Cold Creek. Rose was amazing. She saw that we--but especially my wife--needed to gain confidence every bit as much as Jasper did. So much that Rose told us and taught us enabled us to see the "diamond in the rough" that Jasper was. She not only taught us very helpful general techniques but also taught us to read and interact with Jasper as an individual with his own distinct personality. He's still very pack oriented and a bit cautious around new people, and he's not a fan of other dogs (except our daughter's Jackabee, who is part of our pack). However, we can take him to dog-friendly stores, and he does very well. Even lying down if I'm taking a while looking at something. Now, Jasper can't get enough "rubbins". We frequently have to hide our hands once we're given him a good scratching so that he realizes it's time for a break. He loves his Chuck-It time, getting to run after the ball and making some amazing catches. In fact, he loves any time that we let him walk with us outside the fenced area of our yard. And even now, two years later, we're still seeing continued positive change in Jasper. A few months ago, he started to sit on our laps occasionally when we were sitting on the couch watching some TV at the end of the night. He's recently started to snuggle up next to us on the couch. Just within the last week, we've both noticed what we can only call a "next-level" increase in Jasper's happiness. It's been quite the journey, and Jasper still has his issues. But we both now really enjoy him. We've both said that we were the family that he needed. Not to praise us, but if Jasper had gone to a family that didn't look for ways to help him, he would've ended up staked out in someone's backyard or continuously rotating through shelters. Cold Creek, and Rose in particular, played a huge role in that.

I don’t recommend this business as they are far too pushy and seemingly more motivated by money than a passion for dogs. I reached out to inquire about a program for my suddenly aggressive dog. The conversation was very short, impersonal, and I felt I was a bother to the lady as she was talking to me while “gardening”. I was quoted $2,000 for 8 sessions, each 2 weeks apart. THEN the phone calls, voicemails, emails, and text messages began. They relentlessly contacted me about scheduling despite knowing I was waiting for a bloodwork appointment and results from the vet before I committed to hiring a trainer. All major red flags for me so I continued my search and thankfully found a wonderful trainer who spent an hour on the phone with me, wasn’t pushy at all, and offered a very reasonable flat rate with a minimum of 4.5 hours in one session. This is the difference between a corporation VS a small local business. The real intentions are obvious right from the start and it’s very easy to see one is purely money driven while the other is driven by genuine passion.
