Contented Canines

We have been working with Tom just a few weeks and as an initial review I can’t say enough about the results we are seeing. Tom is responsive, sincere, knowledgeable and accessible. We have a very challenging rescue dog that has been through many different trainers without success. So thankful for giving one more trainer a try with Tom and wishing it had been our first call many years ago. Will definitely update at the end of our training as well... if only because we are so excited to see what potential lies ahead.

Contented Canines has changed my life & my dog's lives for the better! We first found out about Contented Canines after my dog Bailey started having behavioral issues and it made a world of difference. About a year or two after completing the foundation training with Bailey, we got a second dog and Bailey started to have behavioral issues again. We reached out to Colonel Kelly and decided to go through the foundation training with our new dog Rosie. I recommend Colonel Kelly to everyone I know with a dog because he is amazing! If problems ever arise with my animals, he is always just a call or email away to help figure out what is going on and how to fix it. This was one of the best things I ever did for myself and my dog. I adopted a 6 month old black lab/pit mix. He was the sweetest and most timid boy, but about a month into it, he became very aggressive. So aggressive that I was afraid of my dog and I almost brought him back to the shelter. That's when I started looking for a trainer and I found Tom. His site made it clear that he wasn't going to be training your dog, he was training YOU. In the online application I wrote about my concerns and I immediately received a phone call from Tom with advice on how to handle the situation and then scheduled a private consultation as soon as possible so he could assess the situation in person. This one-on-one consultation is included in the price of the group session, but it's honestly priceless because after the consult I became more confident in my ability as an owner to handle my dog and know how to react when he becomes aggressive. The group classes were amazing- they provided the slight distraction of other dogs and people which added to the 'real 'world' application of anything we learned. But it is your responsibility to continue what was taught in class and practice it at home. To get the most from the lessons, it is so important to practice every single day with your dog- I can not stress that enough. If a concern popped up throughout the week, Tom promptly answered any of my emails or text messages. I can not rave enough about this program, I'm so glad I did this because it saved my relationship with my dog.
