Cowboy K9 Academy

I’m not one to write reviews, but I had to come on here to rave about CowboyK9. My German Shepherd, Sharon, was what I like to describe as the Tasmanian Devil from Looney Tunes. When I sent her off to the obedience training, I was honestly apprehensive and didn’t know what to expect, but man I cannot express how grateful I am after the fact. I specifically want to thank Sage for being so amazing with Sharon and truly caring for my dog and answering every question I had along the way. Sharon is now a completely different dog and I never thought she could be this well behaved now and calm. 10/10, could not recommend this place more!!

Cowboy K9 worked wonders for my son’s new puppy. Our GSP was a hyper and chaotic little lovable monster who wouldn’t focus, and wouldn’t respond to our attempts to train certain behaviors out of him. Cowboy K9, in their first two weeks with him, completely changed him, and he’s such a better dog already. He’s such a young pup that we had to break training up into two phases—and I’m looking forward to seeing what they accomplish with him in phase 2 of his training. ———— Part 2 (update): I was a little slow in returning our doggo to training due to career-related travel; I wish he’d been back sooner. We worked hard to try to maintain his lessons from his first visit to Cowboy K9, while he sure is a smart and mischievous and challenging high energy dog—so I admit that as he aged he was getting to be a handful, and hard for me (not a dog trainer) to manage. Of course, I love my kid’s doggo—he’s family now—but, finally, my frustrations with this incredibly mischevious high energy dog convicted me to make the long journey to return him to Cowboy K9 to complete his training. Boy, am I happy I did. Micah worked wonders on our boy. Our pup is still a sweet, loving, and high energy boy, because that’s who he is, while now he has a better routine, and ceased so many bad habits, and has structure that was much needed in his life. I trust him both on and off leash now, whereas before I wasn’t confident letting him roam, which was unfair for an athletic GSP—now his recall is instant and flawless with us. Also, he now finally takes commands from my wife—it took only 48 hours of training with the e-collar at home after we picked him up to get him to obey his “mother.” And he obeys our 4-year-old son on the few of commands my son loves to throw at him, including, “yuck,” “sit,” and “down.” I think the best gift that came from training is the “bed” command, though (with “quiet” a close second). He will spend hours on his bed, minding his own business and taking much-needed naps, while still being present with the family. It’s miraculous, really. I work from home, mostly, and now I can have him napping next to me while I work, versus before where he was often running around the house with a stolen toy in his mouth as my wife and kid chased him around… what a difference! I couldn’t say enough to express the value of training with Cowboy K9 if I tried. If you have a dog and you’re on the fence about training, I hope this post coaxes you to go for it—it’s worth it for you and for your dog, and will make your lives so much better.
