Dances with Dogs

Brittany helped us out with our 2 year old rescue pup, Waffles, earlier this year. We opted for her package option with 9 private sessions: 6 one-on-one with Waffles, and 3 with us present. She was extremely innovative and patient in helping us to strengthen Waffles' training. We have noticed a serious improvement in Waffles' behavior since our sessions with Brittany! The main things we were concerned about were greeting guests, pulling on walks, and listening in general. We had tried a lot of training techniques and the skills we learned from working with Brittany have been the most effective by far! On top of everything, Brittany is extremely kind and you can tell how much she really cares about your dog's well-being! I definitely would recommend Dances with Dogs to anyone looking for training for their dog!

We are thrilled with the work Brittany has done with our reactive dog! After we adopted our pup, we immediately noticed she was lunging and wildly barking at other dogs, bikes, scooters and trucks while out on walks (we live in downtown Silver Spring). Brittany gave us a very personalized approach to dealing with our pup’s triggers, which translated into calmer walks. After 9 sessions, we’ve seen huge improvements in our dog’s reaction to these triggers. We’re so happy we worked with Brittany and definitely recommend her for anyone who has similar issues with their dog.

Brittany helped us do an incredible 180 with our two adopted dogs, which has, without exaggeration, improved the overall quality of our life. Five weeks ago, we couldn’t let visitors into our home through the front door, walk past other dogs, or be in-the-midst of little ones without major stress for both dogs and humans alike. Fast forward to now, and our dog-reactive pup can pass other dogs on walks with minimal (and occasionally, no) reaction; our kid-fearful pup can hang out near the chaos of little ones playing at the park without stressing out; and we can do introductions with guests visiting our home that don’t make us dread having visitors. Prior to Brittany’s help, I hadn’t walked one of the two in more than a year because the experience was always so stressful. Now, I’m proud every time he turns to me for cues and reassurance as we go on more confident walks together. Our training experience with Brittany really strengthened our trust of, and bond with, both dogs. Like I said, life-changing. Here’s what we loved most about working with her: 1. She genuinely cared about our dogs and treated them like she’d treat her own fur-child. It put all of us at ease. 2. She does 100% positive reinforcement behavior training, so we knew (and believed in) her methodology. 3. She customized the training plan for our dogs. We got to pick our top priorities, and she chose the specific activities that would help us and our fur-children accomplish those goals. I could go on and on... we're so thankful we found her. Brittany is a very personable instructor, and she knows her stuff. I attended her reactive dog class to get help for our dog Honey. Now Honey's much more relaxed in the presence of other dogs and the bad behavior of lunging and barking is all but gone. As the owner, I also learned several new techniques of avoiding bad situations and what to do to keep Honey's attention on me (rather than the other dogs), which all help her feel more at ease. I didn't realize the class included teaching Honey many of the basic commands, too, so that was a huge plus. Lastly, while I didn't think it was possible, the class strengthened the bond between me and Honey. I highly recommend Brittany's class!

Brittany Fulton, owner of Dancing with Dogs, is an exceptional trainer! I have an elderly adopted Dachshund mix who is aggressive. Brittany spent significant time to understand KItt, my dog’s issues. She has a vast amount of knowledge and experience to train each dog and owner to their own unique needs. What makes Brittany stand out in addition to her care and thoughtfulness. After and lesson she would write an email, usually 2 -3 pages reiterating what we learned and discussed. The written record was invaluable in executing the training. I could repeat the training without error over and over again because of her commitment to document the lesson. You will not find a more dedicated, discerning, and experienced trainer. She spends far more of her time after the lesson researching the dog and owner’s issues and preparing for the next lesson. Thank you Brittany for changing my life and Kitt’s life for the better!
