Dog Lovers Obedience School

We bought our German Shepherd last summer in Maryland. Our breeder actually had recommended a trainer here in Richmond. I scheduled an in home visit and met with Emily. After a few weeks we boarded and trained with Emily in her home for two weeks. We started puppy classes after that at her school. I haven’t had a dog since I was a kid and really knew I wanted a well behaved dog. Well we have one! We constantly get told not only how handsome he is but how well behaved he is. He is one year old and such a mellow , calm boy. He regularly goes to her house when we are out of town or will be gone all day. He gets so excited to board at her house he starts whining wirh excitement before we even pull all the way in her driveway. Emily has always responded to my texts or calls if I have an emergency or just a simple question. I recommend anyone I know who has a dog to go see Emily. Not to mention she’s a super sweet human and she loves what she does. It’s so clear she has a passion for dogs and creating a great relationship between dog and owner. We have been going to this dog school for about a year now ever since getting our English Setter puppy, Layla. Throughout the year Layla has done private sessions, half days and group classes. The group classes are great and really help your dog learn commands with distractions. Highly recommend this school if you want a balanced dog training approach. The trainers here are very knowledgeable and want your dog to succeed in being well behaved.

I’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences with Dog Lovers Obedience School. My dog, Bingley, has grown enormously through all of the different types of training he’s received — from their excellent group classes (puppy, beginner, and intermediate) to the half-day training sessions he attends while I’m at work, and the board-and-train programs when I’m out of town. I’ve learned so much from their team as well. The trainers are patient, knowledgeable, and truly committed to each dog’s progress. I can’t recommend them highly enough!
