Dog's Best Friend

Unbelievable experience. The one thing I can’t praise enough is the honestly and transparency. When picking a dog trainer it’s always nerve wracking not knowing what you’re getting yourself into or even being able to go over material that is new. Dogs Best Friend provides videos of your lessons, and others, that make it easy to see where you can improve as a dog owner. I also like the culture of this place as it focuses dog training away from blaming the dog, and highlights areas in which, we as owners, are lacking in terms of stability and clear training. Each lesson has a clear goal and it is applicable to issues one can expect in the outside world. I would 100% recommend coming here, especially for puppy training. The proof is in the pudding. Not to mention outside of training it is so reassuring to know we can contact Chas with any concerns or questions. Our puppy has been able to get over his food obsession and is actively working on being indifferent to other dogs. All things I thought would take years to undo. Chas has single-handedly given us the tools to help our baby, and we are forever grateful!

We are beyond impressed with Chas at Dog’s Best Friend! He is a true dog behavioral expert. Chas has an amazing ability to connect with dogs and understand their individual needs. Our dog, who had a few behavioral challenges, has made incredible progress. His training methods are effective, simple and clear. He took the time to explain each step, and we always left each session feeling more confident and equipped to handle situations at home. Thanks to Chas, our dog is more obedient, focused, and happy. Our only regret is not finding Chas years ago for our other dogs or even earlier for this dog. Things would have been so different with my other dogs had we found him sooner. We brought our dog to Chaz after trying methods from other trainers for over a year that weren't working. In a matter of weeks our dog was already walking and listening so much better. Chaz was great at answering questions and helping find ways to address specific behavior issues. After taking his course we've been able to trust our dog in off leash situations and feel confident that we can continue to refine obedience skills with the tools we now have.

My family brought our 8 week old puppy (Labrador retriever)to Chas and were happy to find out he encouraged training a dog right away. This undoubtedly kept us from teaching her bad habits with the excuse that "she's just a puppy", habits that would have been so much more work to undo when she was older. We have attended every lesson with our 7 year old son- who Chas has empowered and encouraged to be a major part of the training process. We are about half way through our lessons and are so excited with the results! We constantly hear how well trained she is for her age. The best part of the lessons is that it becomes a goal to make your dog make a mistake- it isn't a "perfect environment" so that when we get out into the real world outside of training, we know what to expect so that we can correct her. She sits, stays, lays down, and fetches all with hand signals alone. (now 5 mos old). Chas has been patient with us and our son- but very effective. He can always tell if you've done your homework or not. If you do your homework, you will be amazed at what your dog is capable of! We would 100% recommend taking your puppy to Chas, he has made the process fun to have a puppy! (Even in WI winter!). My husband's highlight is she is learning to obey, NOT just respond to getting treats. My highlight is having a puppy that I can trust around children and my elderly parent's to be well behaved. She is over 30lbs at this point and it is important that she doesn't knock anyone over. Lastly, he is the perfect blend of discipline and love towards our girl. She is ALWAYS excited to see Chas- he really has a big heart for the dogs he trains. :)
