Dog's Best Friend

I'd highly recommend Dog’s Best Friend to anyone that’s interested in learning how to better train their dog. I’ve read countless books and been through several other training programs in the Milwaukee area, but Chaz’s knowledge and instruction was heads and shoulders above the rest. He was able to quickly break down behavioral issues we’ve been struggling with for years into simple exercises that have improved my dog’s behavior dramatically. Now it's a pleasure to go on walks, meet other dogs, and explore new places with the confidence that my dog will be well behaved. Thanks Chaz!

Dog owners need to understand going into working with Chas, that his program is about teaching YOU to train your dog. His program is not a dump your dog for 3 weeks, pay a couple grand, and have a "fixed" dog. His program is work, so if you aren't going to put in the emotional energy to do the homework or really forge that bond with your dog, don't bother. It's hard work, but worth every penny. This is a long review, but so worth the read for anyone trying to find a trainer. My 6-year-old German Shepherd, Kaluha, is a rescue who I took in with fear-based aggression and reactivity towards strangers (primarily men) and other dogs from abuse and an assumed dog attack in her former home. I had called to over a dozen places in the Milwaukee and surrounding areas trying to find a place that wouldn't force an e-collar on Kaluha given the likelihood she was abused with one. When I called Chas for the initial review of his services and he laid out every single lesson in the program, I got off the phone in tears because I felt like I had found the person who was going to help change Kaluha's life and he did. What I didn't realize was that he changed my life as well. After starting the program in late April, I've been able to... • Take Kaluha to a boarding facility/daycare where she isn't afraid of the staff and is excited to be there. • Take her to a self-wash dog grooming where the owner made special accommodations for us after hours and by the end, Kaluha was waiting for treats from the owner (a stranger). • Recall her from engaging aggressively with other dogs at my yard's fence line. • Sit with her outside at a public coffee shop where she watches instead of reacts. • And the biggest win today is that I was able to take her off leash at Lakeshore Park and play fetch in the empty, open green space (mind you any time I saw a leashed dog, I recalled her and we waited for the dog to pass). Now, Kaluha is nowhere near ready to engage with other dogs and we take it slow with strangers in public and at home because we can't undo 5 years of damage in 7 months. But without Chas's program, we wouldn't be where we are today and for that we are eternally grateful.

Chaz is one of a kind. You won’t find another dog trainer like him. One of the best things about him is that he’s super passionate about what he does. We brought our 2 dogs in because one of them, our blue Heeler puppy, had started biting and becoming aggressive due to his protective nature. By the time our sessions were through Gibbs was no longer anxious around other people and was obeying our commands even better than our other dog. The training isn’t for the dogs, it’s really for the owners. And now our family is confident we can take Gibbs with us without worrying about him since we now know what to do. So glad we didn’t waste more money on another trainer. Thanks for everything Chaz!!!

I can't say enough about Chas. He is the best. The way he communicates with the dog and the dog owner. I thought I would have to rule with an iron fist. although you have to gain the respect of the dog he showed me that i can get a lot further faster with positive reinforcement. I am amazed at how far my dog has come. I am at my final full lesson and am confident that I will be able to safely have my dog off leash which was my goal in the beginning, but even more important I cant believe the bond I now have with my dog.
