Doggie Du Good

I absolutely love Karen and am so grateful for the incredible work she has done with my dog. We have done private training and board training with Karen and my pup always gets so excited to see her and he has the best time staying with her. He always comes home with new tricks under his belt, is attentive, and eager. Karen is so patient with all of the dogs she trains and her passion for these animals is so obvious. She has taught my dog how to walk on a leash, stay, come, and so many more important commands. My dog kept escaping from our house and running away but Karen taught him how to wait by the door and not leave until he’s given permission, which will help keep him safe from now on. She not only does a great job with dogs but also their owners and takes the time to teach the owners how to follow through and continue with all of the great training she has worked on. I really appreciate everything she has done for me and my best friend and highly recommend her to everyone!!!

Karen definitely had her task cut out for her, when we dropped off our 5 month old Puggle, “Auggie”. He stayed with Karen to train for 2 weeks. We left a defiant and rambunctious little fury boy. What we got back was an incredibly well trained pup. She taught him all the basics and some extras. We were pretty blown away at how much he learned in those 2 weeks. We gave her a list of things we needed him to do, as well as not do anymore. She came through on that list 100%. She also spent time working with us when we picked him up. Showing us how to stay consistent with him in keeping the bad habits broken and the good ones strong. Karen was incredible with Auggie. We will definitely use her for boarding him in the future, as well. So glad we chose her. She went above and beyond our expectations! She was Awesome!!!

Karen helped so much with our shy little Sheltie. We let her stay with Karen for 2 weeks. While there she exposed her to a variety of other dogs and people helping her greatly to come out of her shell. We got her last year in March a 6 weeks age during the early part of. Covid-19 shutdown and limited our and her contact with others so she was not socialized at the most formative time. So after much time effort and failed attempts we turned to our professional trainer Karen Smalley . She built on the foundation needed to calm her fears and anxiety. We our happy and grateful for the results!

We hired Karen to come to our house for private sessions with our then 6 month old puppy to work on basic obedience and manners. Since our first session we completed her intermediate group class and now working on the Canine Good Citizen training. Karen is one in a million and has helped us through some major puppy growing pains such as leash reactivity. Our extremely sweet dog turned into a jumping, lunging, barking machine once she hit the teenage puppy phase around 9-10 months. Karen was a life saver and gave us the tools to be confident and enjoy our walks again. I truly don't know where we would be without her wonderful guidance.

I was having issues with walking my puppy on a leash. With a shoulder injury it was especially important that I got help solving this issue. Karen was incredibly helpful. After the first private lesson we were on our way to success. Since then we have returned for more training advice and are currently taking her basic skills puppy class. One of the things I like most about Karen is the way that she really takes the time to figure out what will work best for you and your dog. It feels very personalized, not like a one size fits all approach. I highly recommend her services.
