Doggie Du Good

As a first time puppy owner having gone through both group and private lessons with Karen Smalley I can honestly say, the training is as much for the humans as it is for the puppy. We learned the basics of sit, stay and come but more importantly we gained confidence as owners and were taught to address our pups individual needs and concerns. Karen has also been there to guide us through different behavioral issues as our dog has gotten older and more emboldened. From erratic barking issues, socializing our dog during a pandemic and answering the door in peace she has been there for us!

My husband and I moved to Forsyth Co. and needed boarding services for Libby, our then 7 year old long-haired chihuahua. We found Karen Smalley with Doggie Du Good. We visited with Karen in advance of a vacation and instantly felt comfortable with her. Our sassy chihuahua had never received any prior training. Leaving for a 10 day trip, we decided to combine training sessions with boarding. Upon return, we were amazed with the results of our dog's improved behavior and new tricks learned at the age of 7. Karen took the time to show us how to reinforce the positive behaviors learned before we left for home. Each time we leave our dog with Karen, she builds on the prior training and Libby continues to flourish in her care. We have used Karen's services for 4 years and would never consider leaving Libby with anyone else.

It was love at first sight for me and my family with our little 7 pound Red Merle Aussie. Little did I know what the next couple of weeks would bring. Yep, just like children, my little four legged girl did not come an instruction manual. Karen is a breath of fresh air and is a dog whisperer with our girl (Maggie-Rey). Karen definitely has the best interest of your dog and yourself at heart. By the end of our first private training sessions (she offers private and class settings), I knew It was my responsability to make my girl the best she could be. We then started group class sessions-which is a six weeks course and is very important in their early stages of social development. Not only does Karen train your four legged family member, but she will train you as well to continue to work on what was taught in your private or group setting session. I wouldn’t dream of trusting my girl with anyone but Karen. Thank you Karen!!

Doggie du Good knows how to du it RIGHT!!! After having attended one of those pet chain store training events, we knew we needed more help and expertise in training our puppy mix, part basset hound and part pit bull. I cannot tell you how stubborn she, Yona, is. Within minutes of our first one on one with Karen Smalley, Yona knew who was in charge and was very attentive. We began the one on one a little earlier than maybe should have, about 4 -4 1/2 months old, but Yona was growing so much so quickly, we knew we were going to lose control quickly. Karen quickly covered the command basics and showed us how to get Yona's attention when she really wanted something else, humanely. We quickly knew Karen was not only experienced and knowledgeable, she was able to quickly gain Yona's respect, and thus training progressed very nicely. I had just had back surgery and literally could not take Yona on a simple walk without struggling to keep her in toe and under control. It took part of the first training session and I was able to control Yona and started enjoying our walks. I cannot say enough about Karen and her training abilities and her superb communications in conveying what the owners need to do and how. Once Karen leaves, the owners need to take over and continue the training. Karen quickly made that point and taught us how to continue and progress. IT WORKED!!! Highly recommend Doggie du Good for your pet's training!!!
