Can’t recommend Jonathan enough. He is by far the best dog trainer I’ve worked with - it’s as if he speaks dog. He is able to quickly identify the sources of behaviors in dogs and come up with plans to address them. He also makes a point of educating the owners on everything he does, not only so they understand but so that they can build the right habits. His expertise with dogs ranges from simple issues like basic manners all the way up to severe reactivity/aggression. He helped us with a dog that was so reactive, we couldn’t walk him in our neighborhood. Jonathan was able to work with him and walk him through some of the busiest parts of South Philly (broad street, Marconi plaza, Washington Ave, etc.). If you go with Philadelphia Dog Academy you can feel confident you are getting the best dog training at an extremely fair rate.

Lucky to have worked with Jonathan -- I can say with measure that he changed our lives, especially that of our newer rescue N who had a lot of fear based aggression and was attacking our older rescue dog T. Jonathan applied his depth of knowledge, calm character, & patience with humans, to help us figure out what each dog needed individually so we could set up an environment that worked for them both. We weren't sure we'd be able to keep N (who we were fostering at the time) but after implementing what we learned from Jonathan during session one, the relationship started to move away from what had been fraught/stressful towards something that developed into a bond. It's been almost three years with this hilarious pack of two. I highly recommend Jonathan/Dognify, (and have in fact recommended him to friends many times). I never write reviews, but I believe in Jonathan and want people to know about his services.

We had heard about Jon from some friends of ours who spoke highly of him and their input was spot-on. We have a delightful, energetic, Bernese puppy… who was a bear to walk and also not always the best follower of instructions. Through Jon’s patience with Bento and with us, we’ve come a long way. Our puppy pulls far less, listens to me and is also has gotten much better about respecting personal space. He’s well on his way to being a model dog citizen and that’s in large part due to Jon’s excellent, patient teaching of both us and him. I would recommend him for training wholeheartedly - our experience has been fantastic.

When I adopted my Thai street dog, Twix, I reached out to Jonathan to support his transition into a completely new life and environment. From our first interaction, I've been impressed by his depth of knowledge, thoughtful approach to understanding both dogs and their people, and the genuine enthusiasm he brings to his work. He has provided invaluable guidance in understanding Twix's behavior and needs, helping me create an environment where he can thrive. His observations and recommendations are practical, insightful, and tailored to Twix, making our transition together much smoother. In addition to behavioral sessions, Twix participates in Dognify's pack runs. He is always excited to see Jonathan at pickup and comes home happy, fulfilled, and ready for a well-earned nap. I love knowing he's not only getting great exercise but also opportunities to socialize with a variety of dogs before and after the runs at the dog park—something Twix absolutely loves. As a highly social and playful dog, those interactions are incredibly valuable. I've also had the opportunity to meet other members of the Dognify team, including Faye, who has been wonderful. Everyone is friendly, professional, and clearly cares deeply about the dogs in their care, which is both reassuring and heartwarming. Jonathan and the team are excellent communicators, consistently providing updates and making scheduling easy. I highly recommend Dognify to anyone looking for knowledgeable, compassionate, and trustworthy support for their dog. I'm incredibly grateful to have found them.

If you’re looking for someone who helps solve problems without immediately relying on e-collars, you’re in the right place. Jonathan is also not the kind of trainer who takes your dog away for a month and promises to “fix” them. (Honestly, who could trust that?) Instead, he teaches you how to understand and work with your own dog, creating results that actually last. Our biggest challenge was having guests over, especially children. Loki would get extremely excited and was very difficult to manage. Having friends visit was always stressful, but one simple structured change completely transformed the situation. Kids are no more afraid of him! I also no longer worry every time we see another dog, as Loki wasn’t friendly or comfortable around other dogs before. In fact, Loki now has a dog friend that I would have never introduced him to before working with Jonathan! Life with Loki is so much less stressful and so much more enjoyable now. Thank you, Jonathan! P.S. Loki is 6 y.o. , it’s never too late to for change !
