Melissa has been training dogs for over 20 years. She has been involved in Schutzhund (IPO) 20 years and has been a judge in the sport since 2011. She has competed at club, regional, national, and world levels and has titled many dogs. She started her career with animals as a veterinary technician and then went on to specialize in veterinary dentistry before becoming the clinic office manager.

I called Dog by Melissa after working with 2 other trainers. I was feeling very frustrated and knew there had to be a better way to set Addison up for success than the "what do you want to work on today" approach. One of the things I liked about this program are the structured weekly plan that was in place for the 10 week option. Each week there was a new task and not a question of what I wanted to work on. Some of the commands were already "mastered" so we were able to incorporate a little more time for the areas that I still needed some consistency with. Yes, I said "I". Addison is the dog that is so willing to please that it was absolutely necessary for Jacquye to call me out when I was making mistakes! I definitely needed this. I also loved that she saw my anxiety and playfully addressed why I was so nervous. I want nothing more than to set my dog up for success. I will continue to work with Dogs by Melissa even after we graduate next week. I still have a lot to learn!

We are very pleased with the dog training provided by Jacquelyn and Melissa. Our standard poodle Sage completed the 10-week training program and it exceeded our expectations. We were provided with weekly instructions after each training session. Sage adapted well and continued to take on additional instructions without regression. We are able to take Sage to outdoor restaurants or events without causing any issues with others, which is a great compliment to our trainers.

Our Lab started with Puppy classes at about 10 weeks, then moved on to the 10 week training program. I cannot recommend Dogs by Melissa enough! Jacquye was so fun to work with, and really helped us get our wild guy under control. Our dog loved his training time, and we loved the results!

Melissa trained my 9 month old daniff. I just got him back and he is a different puppy. At over 100 pounds you want a well behaved dog. He listens so much better, not aggressive with his yumyums, etc. I have bad knees from the military and nursing and he does not pull me when healing now. I would highly recommend them.
