Dogs Got Class® Dog Training

Our family adopted a young husky rescue at the beginning of the pandemic. His social skills were awful, his anxiety was extremely high, he was smart and eager to learn but his hesitancy to trust definitely served as a barrier to progress, that is before we began working with Helena from Dogs Got Class. She is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and skilled in her abilities for guiding the humans while simultaneously training the canines. What we have learned in our time working with her is priceless and helps us navigate the world of bringing a rescue (or any dog) into the family. I must mention that we have three small children, two cats and an overall busy/active household. Helena always came with such a calm, gentle yet focused presence. She gave us homework which was fantastic because it gave us a chance to learn about our pup but also include the children in his training experience. Helena helped us process experiences and observations we were making as we learned more about our sweet pup. She was always patient and able to redirect the journey when need be. Helena is fantastically gifted. Working with her has really allowed my dog and me to do so much more together out in the world. My pup arrived in my home as a 6-month-old rescue. As they say, a smart dog isn't necessarily an easy dog, and keeping her out of trouble was a full time job. I originally enlisted Helena to help me with some behavior basics ("drop it" and "leave it") we sorely needed at home. Using positive reinforcement, Helena not only helped us with the basics, but also introduced fun challenges to give my pup the mental workout she craves. My dog and I have bonded so much through training, we have staid on as clients to keep building up more advanced skills. Helena puts a lot of emphasis on not just learning a skill, but strengthening it (so you can do it in new places, for a longer duration, and/or from a distance). That part of training can be a grind, and having backup is key. If something's not clicking for us, Helena is always ready to advise about whether to be patient and keep at it or change strategies.
