My experience with Joanna Bishop with Enlightened Pawz was exceptional. I have owned several dogs in the past, but recently became the owner of a rambunctious, energetic lab. I was desperate for help to gain some control, especially with her impulsive behaviors. From the first step in the door, Joanna started to assess the situation. I could tell right away that she truly loves these dogs that she works with. She has immense patience and is willing to put in the effort to correct behaviors. She listened to my concerns and came up with a detailed plan of action with goals to work towards. She was always positive and encouraging, even though I frequently verbalized my frustrations with my dog. She instilled hope and belief that we could fix some undesirable behaviors. I worked weekly with Joanna for a month and the difference was remarkable. Our two Golden Retrievers can be a handful on walks and with their individual special needs but Joanna handles it all with the greatest of ease. Joanna has been our dog walker for several years and our dogs love her. So, when we found out that she now also trains dogs, we jumped at the opportunity to have our two-year-old retriever, Hickory, trained by her in loose-leash walking. There are trainers that work by intimidation rather than love. Not Joanna. She loved Hickory and Hickory loved being trained by her. Hickory was not wild but was an undisciplined dog. Within three weeks, however, Joanna taught her loose-leash walking. A miracle! Joanna is not somebody who overpromises, instead she delivers. I was included from the beginning in the process so that I can now fine-tune the training. Overall a very, very positive experience. You can't do any better.
