Evergreen School For Dogs

Do yourself a favor and book an appointment with Tommy and Corday. I cannot believe what a difference they made for my dog, Basil and I. I rescued Basil from the Olympic humane society, he was about one-one and half yo. He was found in the wild and immediately needed two sets of eye surgery that left him in a cone for the first three months… which led to some behavioral issues. He was reactive to other dogs, possessive of objects and me, showed signs of aggression, would bite me, jump up, I dreaded walks in case we ran into anyone, had separation anxiety…. Needless to say I was overwhelmed. I booked an evaluation with Tommy and from that first session I was able to see the possibility of the future that we now exist in. Tommy made a difference from day one. He gave me the tools and methods to work with Basil and adapted them as Basil picked up new skills. We worked first in my neighborhood, then in public, and at his boarding space. In addition to the one on ones, we did group classes, and with Corday, practiced walking with and past other dogs. They even helped me with how to introduce Basil to other dogs, while he’s picky, I’m happy to report he has two friends he plays with, something I was worried would never be possible. It’s been almost two years since our first intensive and I’m eager to take more advanced classes. Basil walks well on a leash in a variety of settings, knows complex commands and has become such a fun pup. Things still will set him off, but I know how to handle those situations and redirect so they aren’t stressful, I actually don’t think twice about them. They really gave me the confidence to work with a dog that was more complex than any dog I’ve ever had. But I think the biggest endorsement for Evergreen is that Basil was excited to see Tommy every lesson. While I have yet to board Basil, I know this is the only place I would leave him. Not only do they have a great place, he would have a great time training with Corday. Thank you Evergreen!
