First Class Canine Training

I recently contacted Dave to do an initial training session with my wife , 2 young children and our 2 month old Cane Corso Maximus. It was nothing less than amazing! . Dave is an outstanding dog trainer” who not only had my pup executing some basic commands but showed my 2 young daughters, ages 8 and 3, how to get our puppy to follow the commands! The session was not only educational but fun as well. I also left Maximus with Dave for a board and train week while I was blown away with the progress he made with my puppy. Dave set a foundation for Maximus that I can only move forward with. I’m incredibly grateful for his training sessions and looking forward to training with him in the future!

I had the pleasure of having my dog, Daisy, trained by Dave when she was 5 months old. Prior to the training, Daisy had very minor training including sit, down, crate training, and potty training. Dave taught her to heel, walk calmly on lead, auto sit, stay, and come. He worked with her for 2 weeks and definitely did an amazing job as Daisy was attentive and constantly looking to me for guidance while on walks until her release command was given. 10/10 recommend Dave. More than 3 of my coworkers had their dogs trained by Dave as well after seeing the progress that Daisy made.

I would 100% recommend Dave and First Class Canine Training to anyone with a dog interested in training. Dave’s many years of professional experience is obvious when you speak to him about what you want to do with your dog. He doesn’t over complicate things and gives you simple instructions that just simply work. No gimmicks, just great training for both dog and owner from someone with a very extensive resume. Other trainers I spoke with during my search just complicate things and try to use fear/worry to get you to spend loads of money with them. My pup Drax came to Dave with separation anxiety issues and would cry and drool like crazy. After just two weeks with Dave, he’s come back and been able to be crated. No more drooling. A whine here or there, but night and day compared to before his train and stay program. Before training, Drax knew how to sit, wait, and leave it, with about 60% of the time him actually doing it when told. Now, he knows how to heel, stay, come, down, place, auto sit and is at about 90%. We will continue to train our pup with the knowledge Dave gave us and are looking to do some advanced obedience training with him in the near future. Every penny spent was well worth it and I didn’t have to completely change my life schedule like other trainers said was necessary. 10/10 experience.

I am so happy to provide this review for Dave and First Class Canine Training. I recently adopted a rescue and had not had a dog for a very long time! I have a house with adult cats and the adjustment to having a nine-month old 30 pound puppy was more difficult than I expected. Our puppy, Jack, came in like a storm and was very undisciplined. My friend recommended we consider “boot camp” for Jack. After a few recommendations, I found Dave, who was patient and kind and professional from the moment I spoke with him. His knowledge and experience was evident and within hours I decided this was the right decision. Dave took Jack within days, and provided perfect instructions for our arrival for a two-week boarded boot camp training. While it was difficult to leave him, within minutes I felt safe having Jack stay with Dave and I left feeling hopeful for the first time in weeks that my home might find a balance. In the days that followed, Dave communicated Jack’s progress to me and even shared his own Christmas holiday with Jack. Needless to say, Jack is home and is a very improved version of the puppy I loved and brought for First Class Canine Training. The training my family and I received in order to bring Jack home was instrumental to our success in reinforcing all of Jack’s hard work. He listens (for the most part) and enjoys practicing his training lessons every day. While a few of our cats are still skittish and Jack likes to try to play with them, one of the cats actually enjoys him and they have become buddies! I can’t wait to continue Jack’s training with Dave in additional lessons to enhance his behavior and make the house even more harmonious! Thank you to Dave and all of his hard work.
