Garden State K9

Garden State K9 came highly recommended by our cousin so when we rescued a puppy and knew we wanted to train him we were already sold. Lauren E. did our introductory puppy classes and she was awesome. She spent time in between lessons answering my endless questions and offering great advice. Then we signed him up for the 2 week drop off training program and Melissa M. was his trainer. She was also fantastic, not only with our puppy but also with us. We needed training just as much as he did (lol) and she was great at reassuring us and properly advising us on everything we needed to do to make her hard work stick. Then when we went away for the weekend she took him home with her which made us feel so comfortable and stress-free knowing our puppy loves her, she loves him and she would be taking care of him like he was her own. Our puppy also goes to daycare a couple of times a week and he absolutely loves it. He gets to socialize with other dogs and we know he's in excellent hands while we're at work. 10/10 can't recommend Garden State K9 enough. Love everyone there and the programs are top notch!

Bryan did an amazing job training my Rottweiler, Duke. He worked with him on sit, down, stay, on his recall etc.. and e-collar training, and the difference when I got Duke back was incredible. Duke came home much more responsive, focused, and easier to handle. Bryan was great throughout the whole process, and you can tell he really knows what he’s doing and puts a lot of effort into the dogs he works with. Seeing how much Duke learned and improved made the whole experience worth it. I’m extremely happy with the results and would definitely recommend Bryan to anyone looking for a trainer. 5 stars!, I couldn’t get him to sit more then 5 seconds , came back in a sit stay for 15 minutes ,and that’s just one of the things !

We used Garden State K9 earlier this year to train our rescue dog Bruno and we had the best experience with Darryl and this entire team of dedicated dog loving people. We live in Brooklyn NY and had adopted Bruno about 6 months before he started the Top Dog training program. We had major issues with pulling, lunging, growling and lots of problems that made life with him in the city not very fun. Walks were stressful, we were stressed and unsure if we would be able to keep him honestly. We had tried another trainer that was in the end quite disappointing and made us feel like we weren't really doing enough for him. We started exploring the option of a board and train from recommendations of a couple of friends, one of those friends had used GSK9 with their dog a couple of years prior and had great success. If you know or have heard anything about board and trains in recent times there's a lot of scammy, bad and dangerous options out there and from the very first contact with GSK9 I had I never felt like that would be the case. I called a couple of other board and trains and it was obvious that GSK9 had the most experience along with the best interest of the dogs and their owners too. We met Michelle at the orientation and she was very straight with us about his capabilities and what they could do to help us. She had a lot of confidence about a training program for Bruno but it never felt like it was being used a sales tactic and also very clear about what we would need to do as good owners. At our orientation meeting we were told Bruno would have to be crate and muzzle trained for a safe handoff. Sounds like something that's obvious but other board and trains I called made no mention of this important safety step. The trainer we were assigned was Darryl and where do I even begin with how wonderful he was. We met him on dropoff day and immediately felt good about everything. He took the time to let us ask as many questions, as neurotic as they were and never made us feel dumb. Over the following 3 weeks we received amazing photos and videos of Bruno's training and improvement and were absolutely stunned at the results we were seeing. When our pickup day came we went back into GSK9 where Darryl went through the entire training program, the tools we were implementing with him and how to keep this good thing going. Again there was no rush and we had so much time for questions and practicing these new things with Bruno. A few months after pickup we went back for our follow up lesson/check in and same thing had time for questions and even some tips on his newest command - saddle! We absolutely loved working with Darryl and appreciate his time and commitment to Bruno. Bruno became a better, more confident dog in the training with Darryl and we will forever be grateful of this gift GSK9 provided us with. I've grown so much closer to Bruno and feel confident as his handler on the streets of Brooklyn. It's made us better dog owners in the long run to have a deeper understanding of Bruno and how to handle him around others. Everyone with a dog should be doing this level of training, it changes your life!
