Gary Maria Professional Dog Training

Gary is an amazing dog trainer who is always improving his techniques and approaches based on new studies and revelations. About 14 years ago he helped train our black lab Molly who had just had eye surgery. Naturally, she could not be jerked with the leash or anything like that. He did an amazing job helping us understand what motivated her (food) and how to use these motivations to teach her what we wanted her to do. She is still the best dog in the world and we always smile when people tell us how good she is. As we all know a good dog is really a dog that has been through training and whose "parents" spend the time with her. Gary was absolutely amazing, encouraging us, helping us to be better as praising her and getting the results we all wanted. Fast forward to today where we now have a new lab puppy and needed a new trainer. We found Gary again! Whew! Wow, what a difference 14 years has made. Gary told us about the new techniques all based on new studies that have changed how he trains. We were amazed that he takes the time to stay up to date with the lastest and has taught us "old dogs" some new tricks! Our puppy is going great, she is a joy to be with and I know we are laying a great foundation to make her as good as Molly (one can wish). If you are looking for a trainer who: - Listens to your concerns - Applies the latest in dog psychology and learning - Is super positive and funny Then Gary is your guy. We couldn't recommend him more highly.

We are so happy with the results Gary has helped us achieve with Poppy, our 9 month old Maltipoo. We felt immediately confident that Gary was the right trainer to help us help her. He not only knows how to train a dog...but he knows how a dog thinks...which was key. He immediately could identify her issue of anxiety toward men and we are so impressed with the progress she has made in a very short time. Not only have we learned how to help her lower her anxiety level...but we now have a sweet puppy that will come when called but also walk so much better on her leach while checking in with us. (She used to walk on her hind legs...pulling us as hard as she could in her desire to go where she wanted to go). He also taught us what is normal puppy behavior and how to handle less than desirable behavior. We are so glad we found Gary!

We just finished our 6 week dog training with Gary Maria and it was such a pleasure to work with him. I have to say it's more training for the dog owners in understanding our dog's subtle nuances and behaviors. He has great techniques that he explains to us in detail and gives us weekly homework to work with our dog. He really personalizes the training to your goals and your dog's personality. Would highly recommend him.

When we adopted our dog from a rescue shelter, he was an adorable Maltipoo, but rather nervous, sensitive, easily upset, and sometimes aggressive. After 6 training sessions, he is still adorable, and much calmer, relaxed, secure, and most important, well mannered. Whereas we do not know our dog’s history, we do know that our time with Gary has made all the difference in our future time with our dog. We wanted a gentleman dog, and thanks to Gary’s training, we now have a gentleman. When we first got our dog, we made so many mistakes on how to handle him, where to take him, and how to protect him. Now we are much more confident dog owners with a well-mannered pet that brings us great happiness. We especially appreciate Gary’s wonderful and loving approach towards the training process, his goal of having a well-behaved, but happy pet, and his patience training us to be good, responsible, and loving owners. Overall a great experience!
