Golden Standard Canine Training

I adopted an adult small breed dog that had some anxiety and behavioral issues that were a bit out of control and really ingrained because of his age. His behavior was throwing our household into chaos, and I felt like I was way out of my depth even though I have trained several dogs before him. Roscoe and I did 6 weeks of training and learned so much. After just a couple sessions (and doing the homework) he was so much less reactive to his environment. I also feel much more confident in the skills and techniques I learned to keep working with him and helping him to have a much more happy and balanced life. The training sessions were tailored to what worked for Roscoe and for the goals we needed to work toward. It was a really great experience and worth every penny.

Carissa is so knowledgeable, helpful, kind, patient and polite. Everything and more you want in a dog trainer! My puppy loved going to class and was so excited to see Carissa every week. The way the she trains the owner as well as the dog is a technique I definitely gravitated towards. I loved that part of her services were to set up an evaluation session to meet my dog and I and see if we would be a good fit with her. It didn’t take long into that session for me to jump all in with Golden Standard! She asked what my end goal(s) were for my dog and worked those skills into her training sessions. It can be a lot of information to absorb in a training session, but Carissa emails notes and homework after each one, which was extremely helpful for me! Now that our lessons are done, I would 100% go back to Carissa if I had any issues come up. Contact her early because she does book out, but 10/10 worth the wait.

Porter was a highly excitable 1 year old mix breed beagle. Walking on a leash with him was nearly impossible. After our first lesson the walking was so much better than I could have ever hoped for. He knows sit, stay, down, place, kennel. We are still working on come! He's not perfect but he's so much better than I ever expected him to be. We did 6 lessons with Mary and added 2 more with the training collar. Mary was so good with both of us. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Working with Golden Standard was a joy! From the moment I reached out to them they were so helpful navigating my very first time owning a dog (and a puppy!). During training they walked me through the basics, but were always ready to help us work through issues that weren’t directly related to a lesson. They are professional, compassionate, excellent teachers, and so knowledgeable! I’d recommend them to anyone.
