Great Lakes Dog Training Company

After looking into 4 other training facilities, I chose Great Lakes Dog Training immediately after I spoke to Liz. I had such a great experience with the 2-week day training program for my dog! The trainers really took the time to tailor the lessons to what my dog needed to work on and how he learns best. Every trainer was so knowledgeable, and I picked up some new tips about dog behavior and positive reinforcement that I never even knew before. Both my dog and I learned so much from the process, and I can see such a positive shift in how he responds and his overall behavior. Highly recommend Great Lakes if you’re looking for experienced trainers who truly care!

I was apprehensive about sending my 12wk old puppy to a board and train but it was a thousand times worth it! Liz’s team is so professional and knowledgeable. After two weeks with Anthony, Scarlet heels on a leash, holds place, and is fun to take places. Most of my concern was me not knowing how to maintain training, but Great Lakes spent time training *me* how to handle my dogs. I’ve been to other facilities and this is definitely a unique level of investment.

This review is long overdue but this place and these people are the best! We have a black lab and when we got him we thought he’d be a big lazy chunk. Instead we got a malinois in a black lab disguise. We had only ever dealt with a golden retriever mentality before, so after a year of trying and failure to help Walter with his lack of ability to be chill and his reactivity to everything.. and I mean everything - dogs, people, statues of people’s heads we sent him here for the 2 week program. He came back a much better dog but he did have some dog reactivity issues that we struggled with on walks once back home. After 2 weeks I contacted Liz & Jacob - turns out Walter was on his bestest behavior for them and they saw him immediately went through a session with Walter an I. They added another collar and said if after the weekend he wasn’t any better to bring him back for another week free! The second collar was a life saver, we finally felt comfortable enough to take him for walks in the neighborhood and to take him places so he could experience life. Walter just finished the tracking seminar and he loved it! He absolutely crushed it and it was amazing to see him have a job and because of this class it’s something we’re pursuing as an outlet for him. It was reassuring to know that Walter is meant to have a job and if Liz and Jacob hadn’t offered this class we would’ve never known. 10/10 no notes. I recommend Liz & Jacob to anyone who asks about dog training.

The absolute best trainers and facility! I am blown away by the results! My sweet Lola had issues going potty and being afraid of the outside, she refused to go on walks..just after a few days in the board and train class she was a new dog! You get sent daily videos and report card showing the progress! I did the two week program with lots of help from Anthony and Shu! Thank you all, you have changed our lives, and now Lola can also feel like a normal dog 10/10 would recommend!!
