Hawaii Dog Training Academy

I sent my girl here for a board and train program. Eric and his team were very attentive and routinely kept me in the loop on her progress while she was away. She ended up staying a little longer than usual, since Eric takes pride in his work, and he felt she would be where she needed to be if given a little extra time. My needs were a little unique, so Eric developed a customized program to address those needs. I'm very grateful to him and his team's help with my little girl.

Eric and his team were really great with the board and training of our puppy Kylo. We loved the video updates of the progress made and communication provided throughout the 3 weeks of training. Appreciated the time and attention provided us during the family training session with Kylo …it was high touch! Since bringing Kylo home - walks are more enjoyable, no more pulling, he listens more, and doesn’t bark or lunge at everything that moves. Truly thankful

When we first got Coco, she was a sweet puppy that we thought would be 20-30 pounds medium sized terrier. She grew to be a strong 40-50 pound, strong-willed, playful, and kinda crazy 1 year old. We had a dog before, but not of Coco’s size and strength. Despite our best attempts to exercise her extensively and discipline her on our own, she was quite out of control. We also have kids that adore her, but we couldn’t leave her alone with them. She pulled like crazy on the leash (so bad that our kids couldn’t walk her at all). She chewed on our kids’ shoes, ripped carpets, and pretty much destroyed things within her reach when she was bored. My husband tried all the Caesar Milan (dog whisperer) tricks he could remember, but nothing really worked. We found Eric and Hawaii Dog Training Academy and are so thankful that we did! We did Eric’s Board and Train in June 2023. Eric and his staff took Coco and gave her a healthy transformation over the three weeks that they had her. Meanwhile, we enjoyed time off-island and worry-free. They worked with her daily and sent us picture and video updates, helped her to lose excess weight, and taught her how to be a better dog with her hoomans 😊. When we met Eric and his staff to pick her up, they taught our whole family how to work with her on “place”, “heel”, and other skills. They also shared videos of our training to help with upkeep at home. Coco was such a different dog after training. She makes eye contact and is so much more in tune with all of her hoomans. She stopped destroying things in the home so we could stop fussing over kids’ shoes when they left them exposed. She was a thousand times better on leash, our kids could finally handle her on leash on their own, and I could finally enjoy (instead of dread) taking her for long walks. Our neighbor’s keiki was previously terrified of Coco because she would jump on him. But, after completing training, they were so much better around each other and we can finally hang out with our neighbors again! It is such a relief to have Coco trained, and I am so thankful for Eric and his staff for their wonderful service! Mahalo!

My first dog was a big American Bull, which I left with a friend to sit while I was on vacation, well, 3 days into my trip I got the dreaded call he passed. So, only naturally I was skeptical to leave my new small dog Jaxin with ANYONE! I explained to Eric my situation and that I needed help training Jaxin. Eric was not only understanding and compassionate, he was sooo very assuring that he would take care of Jaxin as his own. I was able to meet the whole team out at his Waimanalo training facility, and I was blown away..... not only were those dogs trained well, but all the trainers there were super nice and AWESOME! Iwilani took Jaxin and walked him around the field.... and I was sold. Jaxin was scheduled for 2 weeks of training (cause I didn't wanna be without him for 3weeks) and by the 1.5 week mark. I was getting messages that Jaxin was ready. He had learned and executed well. I got videos and pics and updates of his progress. I can not tell you.... how much of a difference I saw. I honestly couldn't believe it was my dog Jaxin. There was no more pulling... jumping... or even excited jumping tantrums. Eric, Iwilani and the whole team took soo good care of Jaxin, and trained him so well! Thank you Eric, Iwilani and team!!!

My husband and I went on 3 weeks vacation and have our Thai Ridgeback: Maile be board and train with Eric and his HDTA team. It is a peace of mind for us that our Maile is in good hands and trained very well while we are away. Upon returning we noticed a significant changes in her obedience and impulse control as she used to be lunging at some dogs or growling or pulling on leashed or high response to distractions while walking instead after three weeks she's more calm and no longer lunges on other dogs and stays whatever command she's receiving and of course as pet parent we were also educated to continue the training and reinforced positive learned skills/behavior.
