Hawaii Dog Training Academy

We enrolled our stubborn American Bully with Eric’s three week boarding and training program. We had to wait a few months because of high demand, but it was totally worthwhile. Our Zeus was a different dog, very disciplined, compliant and well mannered. Hawaii Dog Training Academy does exceptional work, is highly recommended and without hesitation. Zeus stopped pulling during walks, rather keeping pace, stopping when I stop and sitting automatically; he no longer gets overly excited around people, other dogs whereupon he would try to jump on them out of excitement; complies with all commands like heel, sit, lay, place: and is consistent, eager with recall while off leash. We are extremely satisfied with results of the three week boarding/training program. Excellent job Eric and team. Again, highly recommended but encourage to book right away, or you’ll have to waiting for months.

Best trainer on the island! My wife and I sent our 8 month GSP to Eric for the 3 week board and train. We chose Eric, because it was clear from the first phone call that he was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and most of all loved what his does. He puts an emphasis on getting to know and forming a bond with your dog so he can train them in a way that is best for them. When we got our girl back there was a huge improvement and Eric set us up for success, giving us all the tools and techniques to continue to develop what she learned.

BEST BOARD AND TRAIN ON THE ISLAND! My wife and I recently dropped off our 1 1/2 year old doodle mix (Kaia) with Eric and the team. She was extremely reactive towards other dogs, and had self control issues around birds and children. The team were very communicative with us during her stay and it was obvious how much they cared about the dogs entrusted to them. When we received her back she was a transformed dog! She now has incredible self control and is able obey multiple commands. Her reactions to other dogs are significantly subdued, and she’s able to stay in the heel position when passing other dogs. The results speak for themselves, and we are extremely grateful for the changes Eric and the team brought about in Kaia. If you’re looking for a quality board and train, this is definitely the place!!

Eric and the HDTA team were nothing but delightful from the start. They are responsive, collaborative, and absolutely wonderful with dogs! They provided Remi with caring and consistent training and we are thrilled with the results. She has learned how to walk/heel calmly and attentively, wait patiently for the next direction both inside and outside, and use the place bed in our home. She is also much more comfortable in the crate. When questions arise, Eric provides timely and helpful guidance. Most of all, we love the HDTA's focus on building a more positive relationship with your dog. Our learning (Remi and ours!) will allow us to share a greater number of experiences together. We recommend Eric 100% and are so grateful to have him in Remi's life!

My female border collie turns 1 in two weeks. Her name is Indi. She was trained here last February. This is my fourth puppy and has been by far the easiest and most obedient puppy of all of them. Indi goes to work with me 7 days a week and lives on a 42 ft boat. I dropped off a wild 8 month old puppy. I picked up a wild & obedient 9 month old puppy. Eric took the time to show me how he trained her. He showed me how to handle her and some transferable techniques to continue training her. Eric trained my high active breed - ranch dog from Hilo how to be obedient. Multiple hours throughout the day that I can’t give her my attention I can give her ONE command “place” and she will stay in the exact same place until I give her the permission to get up. It’s incredible! my puppy border collie will lay in one spot when told. I’ll have 30 - 50 people walk by and some even make contact with her. She just rolls onto her back so they rub her belly. But she never gets up until I give her the command. I take her to the beach and many public places she just walk right by my side with a loose leash. Lays down and sit when she is told and stays until I call her. He showed me how to communicate with her and I’ve been able to train the use of hand signals for long distance “sit” ✊🏻and “come” 🤚🏼for the instances that she can see me. I use his techniques to also train her to recall on whistle. When we off leash hike I can let her explore and sniff whatever she wants with complete confidence she’ll return when whistle. We often come across people that are impressed by the obediente of Indi. She is still very much a puppy but she just does all of her wiggling in one spot. Indi gets to be apart of the world instead of a back yard because of how well behaved she is. I am incredibly happy with how Indi turned out. If I knew sending my puppy to Eric would result in this I would have had one years ago! It’s worth the time away and the investment. I got to have the fun young puppy phase. Right about the time she started to become difficult I dropped her off. I got to skip the hard part and went straight to a trained easy dog phase. My highest suggestion and recommendation
