Hendersonville Dog Training

My dog, Piper, has just finished a two week “ Board and Train” session with Nick. Although we had never used a Dog trainer before we felt that if she could learn the basic commands then we could do the rest. From Nick’s initial consultation, when he met our dog, answered our questions and explained his methods, I knew we had made the right decision! While she was away, I loved seeing Piper’s progress on Nick’s (Hendersonville Dog Training) Facebook page and was amazed at how quickly she was listening and obeying Nick’s commands! Now that she’s home and Nick has explained to us, how to keep her training progressing...I am overjoyed! Piper left us “ high strung and undependable”. She came home “confident and dependable”. I can’t say enough about Nick and Hendersonville Dog Training. They exceeded our expectations in every way!

The whole experience with Hendersonville Dog Training was fantastic. We enrolled our dog, Sage, in the two-week board and train program and have not once regretted that decision. From the moment Nick entered our home, he positively connected with Sage. Things only got better from there. Throughout the two-week period Nick kept us in the loop through social media which was great. In this way we got to see videos and pictures that showed clear progress in her training as well as a dog that was being well cared for. We handed over a nervous, newly adopted, 14-month-old rescue dog with bad manners and, at the end of two weeks, we got back a happy well-adjusted dog. She now loves to have a “job” to do such as sitting, staying or being in place. Off-leash reliability has improved greatly and the humans are now the ones in charge. The e-collar is a fantastic tool and, as we continue to work with Sage on our own, we find that it is needed less and less. We have no complaints about the board and train service and look forward to having Sage go back regularly for a continued relationship with Nick at Hendersonville Dog Training. --Marie & Stephen Holland

If you are looking for a dog trainer, look no further! My dog did board and train with Nick for 2 weeks and I am so glad I made the decision to get her trained! She was not an easy case by any means. She is a rescue with an unknown past. She has anxiety in new places and can easily become fearful. Nick did a great job in making sure she was comfortable but still pushed her outside her comfort zone. I have already seen such an improvement in her confidence! He took the time to teach me everything she had learned, had me practice and answered any of my questions. Also knowing that I have Nick as a resource if I have future questions gives me piece of mind. You can tell he is passionate and knowledgable about what he does. Couldn't have had a better experience!

Nick was our fourth trainer trying to get our very friendly, energetic English Cream Retriever under control. His method, using technology similar to an invisible fence, worked great. We very quickly minimized use of the training device, rapidly moving to only very occasional device reinforcement. Moreover, within a few weeks, due to the responsiveness fostered by the initial, structured training, she was picking up and responding to less structured, verbal commands with no re-enforcement from the device..

We have a 4 year old feisty, very smart and strong-willed pit-bull, who likes to run free at any opportunity she can get. We realized we needed help in getting Paisley trained within 2 months of adopting her. Nick worked to train our dog and more importantly us regarding Paisley’s walking and recall skills. Within the basic training period, she was much easier to control. Several months later, we worked with Nick again to further improve her walking skills as she tends to pull and lunges at vehicles, given her past-life of being continually chained. Nick introduced us to a variety of collars, before finding one that worked the best for Paisley. He also gave us the confidence to use a different collar (an e-collar) as a security mechanism; she now can walk off leash through the woods (something I never thought would be possible) and is aware of staying with us. I seldomly need to use the e-collar for recall, as she is attentive and responds to my voice commands. Nick has also trained me to be alert to the environment and predict how she will respond, so I can take control before an incident occurs. The result, Paisley is no longer a runner and is excited to walk when she sees her collar being taken out to walk. Nick has an authoritative presence with the dogs I have seen him work with. Paisley sensed his body language and tone of voice and allowed him to be her pack leader. He uses a commanding tone of voice, and does not yell or speak harshly. He is also great about giving them praise when they do something good. Paisley responded well with him, and is genuinely happy when she encounters him. She has also boarded with him, and come home far better than when we had dropped her off. I recommend Nick to anyone who is struggling with a strong-willed dog. There is hope.
