We had an excellent experience with Joe and Emily at Hodge Caine. From scheduling to the drop-off, pick-up and training, they were professional, responsive, and so easy to work with. The board and train program made a remarkable difference in our dog Stella. Before training, she was highly reactive, barked at everyone, and often ignored commands. After spending a few weeks with Joe, she came home noticeably calmer, more focused, and much better behaved. She now listens to commands more consistently, responds to us reliably, and her barking has improved tremendously. The change in her behavior has made everyday interactions far more enjoyable for everyone. Joe’s patience, knowledge, and dedication truly set him apart. He is very good at his job!!! He took the time to explain exactly how to continue Stella’s training at home and taught us practical techniques we could use confidently. He also continued to answer questions and give advice after the initial training. If you are looking for a trainer who delivers meaningful results while also helping owners understand how to maintain them, we highly recommend Joe and Hodge Caine.

We had a great experience working with Joe and have already recommended him to family and friends. Lessons were tailored to our specific needs and Joe is especially good at explaining the purpose and context behind his instructions and recommendations. As a result I now know how to use the framework he taught me in order to better communicate with my dog. Since his board & train we enjoy living with our dog so much more! The atmosphere in the house is more pleasant overall and I have much less stress and anxiety due to feeling powerless to our dog’s bad manners. We would use Hodge Canine again in a heartbeat!

Before finding Joe, my puppy was growing into an increasingly agressive dog. I have had many dogs but this was the first time I had one I could not manage. I couldn't have guests come to my house or walk him on a public sidewalk without him launching at others. After working through a package of sessions with Joe, my dog is no longer terrifying strangers. Joe truly understands dog behavior and the nuances of different dog personalities. Joe identified what caused my dog's agression and what type of training would motivate him to change. He adapted our training to suit my dog's temperment. With Joe's help, My dog is now confident, friendly, and is no longer a liability. One week after our last session my dog made his first dog friend at the park without any agression. It felt like a miracle. My pup still needs continuous training and work to maintain his new good habits but I now have the skills to keep it going. If you do the things Joe tells you to do, you will not be disappointed.

Reactivity is tough. We are seeing this more and more. It is something we really try to specialize in because there is such a need. It is one of our greatest joys to help a dog struggling with this. We had such a great experience with Hodge Dog Training! What I appreciated most was that they didn’t just train my puppy, they taught me how to be a better dog owner. I learned so much about dog behavior, how dogs learn, socialization, and how to continue the training at home. We did five in-person sessions with Trainer Joe, and he was dependable, knowledgeable, and gave us practical things to work on and great resources between sessions. His methods were easy to understand and follow. One of our biggest goals was to have a dog we could confidently take out in public, and we’re well on our way! Everywhere we go, people comment on what a great dog Waffles is. 🥰 Emily was also wonderful- organized, responsive, and a great communicator. I would absolutely recommend Hodge Dog Training! 🐾

hodge and his wife are amazing people Hodge is an amazing trainer. He took great care of our German Shepherd as well as our Poskie corgi and Pomeranian. We severely recommend Hodge K9 for any type of dog training.
