Loved working with Houston DogWorks from the beginning. Josh is very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions and concerns from day one. They were able to put together a plan that worked for our dog specifically, and guided us through the whole process. We did the “do it yourself” program, but they do offer board and train as well. They specialize in a lot of things including puppy work, adult dogs, sporting, daycare (structured), grooming, and boarding. The team is also highly experienced in obedience training so your dog is always being handled by professionals. The dog training industry is not regulated in anyway, so it’s important who you take your puppy to. We love DogWorks, we love the community, we love the curriculum, but most importantly our dog loves it there. We are very happy with our results so far and we are excited about what’s next in our obedience training journey. I highly recommend Houston DogWorks.

I just completed the Houston DogWorks Obedience Foundations class with my two doodles and highly recommend it. You will come away with new dogs! Josh and Kennedy are outstanding trainers, who taught me how to be a confident dog handler, not only teaching me the what and how to do a skill but also the why. Both of my dogs completed the class by passing their Canine Good Citizen exam. The HDW training facility is first class and provides a safe and comfortable space for your training sessions and they have other services such as boarding and doggie daycare. I had taken both dogs to beginner through advanced obedience at PetSmart, where they learned commands, but that did not result in good behavior. Houston DogWorks will ensure you achieve the good behavior you are looking for in your dog. My dogs and I are now taking the Off Leash class. 5 stars!

I have worked with Josh and Kennedy with two of my dogs now. My first dog, Lucky, is a pit mix who had a lot of impulse control issues (some chompy) that were well beyond my ability to address at home. He did 6 week board and train at Houston Dogworks and then we went on to finish the foundations obedience course and earned his canine good citizen title. It was not always easy to stick to the guidelines during the training period, sometimes a little uncomfortable to confront my own habits with him, but I can say for sure it was the right thing to do and my dog is much better off for it. We have clarity in our relationship now, versus before it was a lot of mixed signals and confusion for Lucky. The foundation that Houston Dogworks gave him definitely set him up for success. Not only that, but I know exactly what to do if issues pop up. They don’t fester - I can address it right away because I was taught to read his behavior. Josh has also helped me immensely with my other dog, Cricket, a Chesapeake who went to train out of state with a retriever trainer. She started with all the potential n the world, but ended up washing out of the program after 5 months with a whole lot of issues related to formal fetch/retrieve. Her confidence was destroyed and I wasn’t sure if she would ever be able to complete FF or even hunt recreationally. I asked for help from Houston Dogworks and they immediately said yes. Josh has already fixed a lot of issues she came home with, things that other trainers would very likely tell me could not be fixed. It is so extremely rare to find a dog trainer who is comfortable in many different styles of training. Even more rare to find one willing to take a working dog and clean up the mess another trainer has made of it. Cannot overstate how hard that is. It speaks to the intention of training the dog as an individual based on what it needs, which Josh and Kennedy excel at. Now my retriever is enthusiastic about training again, happy to go to lessons, and really happy to be around everyone at the facility. Cannot recommend Houston Dogworks more.

Choosing Houston DogWorks to train me and my 4 year old weimaraner has been the best decision I have made. My dog would pull and be leash reactive towards other dogs, as well as, food and toy reactive. My dog now knows how to behave and I have learn how to handle situations before they get out of hands and become problems. I can't thank Josh and Kenedy enough for everything they have done and their amazing dedication towards their clients and dogs. 100% recommend.
