Hunter Canine Dog Training

Choosing Hunter Canine is the best thing we could have done for Ranger. TLDR....choose Hunter Canine for your pups training!! We started Ranger out at 6 months with the six class individual package with Willa, who he absolutely adores. Willa helped us with Ranger's basic obedience, leash walking and some reactivity we were noticing. She did this through direct work with us, homework she assigned and through answering all of our questions via text during our time with her. Fast forward, Ranger was good with his basic obedience and leash walking but we started to notice a few undesirable behaviors that we knew needed to be addressed but we weren't sure how. We reached out to Hunter Canine to inquire about the board and train. The team was quick to get back to us. When I reached out with some additional questions, Hunter quickly gave me a call and we spoke for quite some time. He was knowledgeable, honest and NOT pushy, which I really appreciated. After more thinking, my husband and I felt great about our decision and signed Ranger up. The process to get Ranger ready was made very easy by the Hunter Canine team. Everything that we needed to do on our end was clearly communicated and they were quick to respond. We also were able to choose the board and train trainer based on our location. Out of the trainers who do the board and train, we chose Taylor, which was a fantastic decision! We hadn't worked with Taylor before so she came out to meet us and Ranger, prior to his board and train with her. Ranger was specifically sent to Taylor to work on his jumping, confidence, hate for the kennel and his inability to do nothing. Taylor texted us the night we dropped him off and that weekend because she knew just how nervous I was. After that we got video/text updates on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This was the best! We were also able to ask her questions and she was quick to respond. At the end, we had our go home session with Taylor. For everyone like me, who is afraid your dog won't know who you are after 4 weeks, take a breath, they do!!! Ranger was just as excited to see us as we were him. A few days later, our sweet boxer baby was back with us and WOW what a change. Now, I'm not going to lie, the go home packet of instructions was intimidating. You are mimicking what the trainer did with him for the last month into your own home but you've got to do it to ensure his success. Once you get past the first 2 days, you too get into a new routine with your dog and it's no big deal, just your new normal for the next month. So here we are, at the end of our month with Ranger and all I can say is, the difference is AMAZING! He is still him, goofy and wild but dialed in and refined. The changes: -Ranger no longer jumps on us or guests when they walk in the door. Our families have commented on the change they see in him. He's just more chill. We can finally have guests for long periods of time and he isn't a hot mess. -He has CONFIDENCE! He's no longer afraid of EVERYTHING. He walks across the kitchen floor finally. Strangers walking out of their house while we are walking by, don't startle him anymore. People have even approached us on our walks to talk to us and he just sniffs and chills. - My husband and I can finally have a conversation together or watch TV without him barking in our faces, jumping on us or just not settling. - He is heeling during our walks! - He LOVES the kennel now. It's his safe place. He walks in when we say kennel and he sleeps in there at night, which honestly may be permanent at this point. We are all getting so much more sleep. I know it was a lot but if you're like me, you read ALL the reviews before making a big decision such as this and can appreciate the details.

I cannot say enough about the entire Hunter Canine team throughout the entire board & train process. During my consultation, I was so impressed with the simple tactics used to understand what I wanted to address. I never felt like my questions were silly or small, instead was met with education, facts and empathy. The response rate and customer service is amazing. Throughout the Board and Train process, Morgan was so great (even when I sobbed at drop off). She always answered all my questions and sent me so many great updates with pictures. Even post board and train I feel like I have a team to help support if I need it. The entire team is honest, upfront and understanding. I am looking forward to continued partnership with the Hunter Canine team!

Hunter Canine is truly the best at what they do! From the initial consult, to the board and train program, to the group training for the board and train alumni, and every interaction in between, it has been such a wonderful experience. Hunter and his trainers are there for you every step of the way, even post-training! Their support never ends. My puppy Truffle, who is an extremely difficult dog, lived with Morgan for a month at the end of February through end of March. She was able to build so much trust with Truffle in such a short time that when she came home for the midway point training, I was floored at how much Truffle trusted her. At the end of the month she came out of training SO much better than she was before. Prior to board and train I could not even walk Truffle on a leash or take her anywhere. She wouldn’t walk properly and she would bark at everything and everyone. While we still must continue to reinforce what was instilled in her because she is still a difficult dog by nature, we can now go on nice walks, go places with minimal barking and give her commands knowing she will respond to them. In addition to Truffle getting trained, my family has learned so much as well. I know more about dogs than I ever did. I still have a ways to go but Morgan is always there to answer my questions and help me solve any issue I am facing. And now with the new group training classes for board and train alumni, I feel relieved knowing there will forever be opportunities to improve upon her training, continuously check in with Hunter on things as they come up, and bring truffle around other alumni dogs in a safe and secure manner. Truffle was lucky to spend a month with Morgan and we are lucky to have her as a forever resource, as we continue to embark on this journey of dog ownership, especially with a dog as difficult as Truffle is. Hunter Canine has helped Truffle with so many things - eating habits, potty issues, barking, neutrality, confidence, independence, crate training, place training, basic commands, walking, playing and aggression. The list goes on. If you are even considering training for your dog, spend the time and money on training with Hunter Canine. You won’t regret it.

We had an older dog (almost 3) who we were challenged with potty training. He was also a very nervous dog and barked all the time. Hunter and his team saved the day. Our Flip did the 1-month program and he came back a different dog. Although he retained his sweetness, he is completely potty trained and he walks with us like a show dog. He knows when not to bark and we were provided with the tools and strategies to control his barking. We highly recommend Hunter and his team and Rosalie, in particular.

Our girl Penny is quite the handful! She is our third Jack Russell Terrier and we thought we had training down. That is a big no! We chose live in training with Morgan at Hunter Canine! WOW is the result! From the beginning when Hunter came to evaluate her we felt a sense of comfort and professionalism as well as their immediate response and connection with Penny. Morgan did an incredible job, not only with Penny and correcting her bad manners, but also in teaching us how to maintain and continue with training after she came home. Morgan provided regular communication throughout the 4 week training period. And tolerated our frequent requests for pictures. She immediately could see Penny's issues, and her manipulations LOL. She picked up on her needs and what Penny needed for success and training and boy did they deliver. We could not be happier with Hunter Canine! Trust me you will not be dissappointed. After she returned home she's a new dog! She has manners, and while she sometimes needs a reminder, she is a new dog! All of our friends and family repeat the same..."we like the new Penny.."
