About Intelligent K9 Dog Training
Teaching family dog obedience, great listening, and great manners is what we do! There is no reason for any dog owner to put up with unwanted behaviors. Letting unwanted behaviors and even mild annoyances go unchecked leads to stress and resentment. That’s not why we get dogs! We get dogs because we want more enjoyment out of life and we want to share that enjoyment with our companion. To give our dog the best life possible, they need to be education on how to listen to you and on the basic rules and boundaries of life. That way, they have great manners, no nuisance behaviors, and are enjoyable to be around. In our Richmond-based training, we teach and train the dog’s owner so you can develop the right knowledge and skills.

Be very careful with this company. We called & inquired about this program and we were told that it was a $50 fee to have our pup “evaluated.” We drove over an hour to get there. Our dog was never evaluated, at all. We essentially paid $50 for this guy to try to talk us into buying a $2500 dog training program. It felt much like being sold a time share & quite honestly was one of the weirdest encounters I have EVER had with a business.

Unfortunately, a couple weeks ago we learned our youngest boxer Gracie is now in kidney failure. This new reality has hit our family hard. Intelligent K9 drove 45 minutes to our house with the most delicious homemade quiche to help us out. It was the kindest gesture. CJ is not your typical dog trainer. He cares deeply for his dog owners and clients and always goes above and beyond. Thank you 1000x, Intelligent K9! I’d give CJ a 10 star if I could! Two years ago we began working with CJ when our boxer (Gunner) was 12 weeks old. We were so impressed with his knowledge and experience. Gunner learned so much (as did my husband and I). Fast forward a year and a half, we got a second boxer (Gracie) and started her with CJ when she was 16 weeks old. Gracie is a special case as she was born with two brain abnormalities causing some funky clinical symptoms. Regardless of the fact, CJ challenged her and was able to produce great results with her. Nothing makes me happier than being able to take my dogs everywhere with me and have them be civilized! Needless to say, CJ is wonderful and really wants nothing but the best for his clients and their dogs. He will most certainly train any dog I ever have!

We completed CJs program over a year ago for our golden retriever Harper and this review is long over due. We came to CJ having already completed all of training available through Petsmart and Harper completed a 10 day board and train program. If you haven't done any dog training before don't bother with the other programs out there, go straight to CJ. Whether you are beginning the training journey with your dog or you are trying to get your dog to a more advanced stage of training CJ tailors the training sessions and lessons to whatever goals/skills you are trying to attain. Not only is he training the dogs but he is also making the people better trainers. Before CJs program Harper was decently trained and behaved but after going through the process we really do have the perfect family pet. All of our neighborhood walks are off leash and everywhere we take Harper we are always getting compliments on how well behaved she is and how well she responds to commands. We can take her anywhere without worry because we know exactly how she is going to behave. We will use CJ in the future for any other dogs we add to our family. We can't recommend his program highly enough.
CJ showed me how to overcome struggles with my dog. He is very patient and calm. He was willing to share what works in a very clear and transparent way. My last trainer wasn't able to explain so clearly. Thank you CJ!!
