Intelligent K9 Dog Training

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of working with CJ at Intelligent K9 Dog Training to address behavioral issues with our two rambunctious pit bulls, Blu (7 years old) and Bonnie (9 months old). Prior to seeking CJ's help, we had undergone training at another facility in Richmond, which unfortunately fell short of our expectations. The previous program confined training to the facility premises, lacking real-life situations that Blu struggled with. While Blu appeared well-behaved within the controlled environment, her behavior outside remained a challenge. As Blu, weighing 70 pounds, and Bonnie, a 60-pound bundle of puppy energy, pulled and tugged during walks, I found myself dreading our outings. Any encounter with other animals would escalate into a struggle to control them. Realizing the urgency to address their behavior, we turned to CJ at Intelligent K9 Dog Training. After just 8 sessions with CJ, the transformation in Blu and Bonnie's behavior was remarkable. Walking them became a pleasure as they no longer pulled me but walked obediently by my side. A significant test came when two loose dogs approached us during one walk. Previously, Blu and Bonnie would have lunged towards them, but after CJ's Training, they remained composed, contrasting starkly with the other dogs' unruly behavior. Moreover, CJ's training extended to our home environment. Blu and Bonnie learned to stay in their designated spots upon guests' arrival, instead of jumping on them at the door. A notable instance occurred during our last session, where multiple dogs, including CJ's, were present in the driveway. Despite the distractions, Blu and Bonnie remained disciplined, a testament to CJ's effective training methods. Overall, the impact of Intelligent K9 Dog Training on Blu and Bonnie's behavior has been transformative. I cannot recommend CJ highly enough for his professionalism, expertise, and dedication to ensuring a harmonious relationship between owners and their beloved pets. We're not sure 5 stars is enough for the amount of change we've seen in our dog. We rescued our dog, Bowzer as a puppy and hired another trainer almost immediately for dealing with his behavioral issues. We put in the work and time and never really saw it pay off. 6 months later we were having family leave early from visits at our home and friends not come at all because his behavior had become so aggressive and unpredictable. We contacted CJ and began training right away. Just a few sessions later we started seeing such tremendous growth in our dog and us. CJ helped us connect the dots to get the full picture of dog training and allowing Bowzer to live his best life while we get to live ours. We've gone from conversations of not being able to keep our dog to talks of when we add another and its all thanks to Intelligent K9 training!

Amazing K9 dog trainer. Going into this I was under the impression that CJ was going to train my dog for me, boy was I wrong it was totally the opposite. The training was for me and CJ provided me with the necessary tools and information to work with my dog in order to develop good behavior habits. The methods, principals, communication & leadership was explained to me using examples so as to avoid confusing the dog. CJ also instructed me on how to use the training tools responsibly. My pup was 5 months old when we started and after training with CJ these past three months, I have been able to walk the pup in my neighborhood off leash. I would highly recommend CJ to anyone who wants to have a better relationship with the four legged family member. Dewey F.

Intelligent K9 has completely transformed my dog where other trainers have failed. I only rated then 5 stars because more stars weren’t an option. We have a lab/hound mix that we adopted when he was 7 months old. His lack of leash skills quickly turned into leash reactivity to EVERYTHING - cars, people, other dogs, cyclists. We worked with another trainer for 5 months before seeing CJ at Intelligent K9. He fixed in one session what the other trainer couldn’t in 5 months. We now have a dog that can walk past any distraction calmly and we can take out in public without embarrassment. Even better is that I have the confidence as my dog’s leader to handle situations & distractions that arise outside of specific things we’ve covered in training.
