IQ K9 Training

Let me just start off by saying Stani, Luis, and their team are AMAZING!!! My sister and I were referred to IQ K9 by our friend who had very successful results after enrolling her dog in private training classes. Since we live in LA, we were initially hesitant to reach out because of the distance. We were also worried about putting our dog in a board and train program as we heard many horror stories about them. However, we are so glad we chose IQ K9 for our 3 year old Shiba Inu, Mooncake's training. The main issues we were experiencing with Mooncake included resource guarding, aggression towards dogs and strangers, and biting. I first had a virtual consultation with Stani and loved how honest and upfront she was about how Mooncake's problem behaviors could have possibly stemmed from. She also gave advice as to how we could start implementing changes in the house even prior to a formal training program. We then had an in-person meet and greet and brought Mooncake down to SD to meet with Stani and Luis. From the beginning, they were quick to pick up on Mooncake's behavioral issues. They recommended a 2-3 week immersion program for Mooncake. Since we were going to be out of the country for 2-3 weeks, we decided to enroll Mooncake in a 2 week program first and if needed, extend to a 3 week program. During the training program, we were provided updates and videos every 2-3 days of Mooncake's progress. Stani was very upfront with us and towards the middle of the 2 week program, she let us know that Mooncake was progressing but likely not at the speed we would have wanted to. She recommended that we either extend another week of training or she would give us a full refund. I truly appreciated Stani and her honesty. We were initially hesitant on extending Mooncake's training for another week because we missed him so much. However, we decided to purse another week of training as we were already seeing significant improvement just with the videos. When it was time to pick Mooncake up after his 3 week program, we were SO IMPRESSED with his progress. Let me tell you, it was like night and day. Mooncake was so much more obedient and receptive to our commands. Stani and her team use a mixture of positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement (prong collar and e-collar). At the go-home lesson, Stani showed us the correct way to use the collar equipment. We are so amazed by how Mooncake's biting, resource guarding, and aggression were corrected during the short time with Stani's team. We are continuing to implement the same training techniques at home and continue to see Mooncake improve despite being back at home. Again, we are so happy with Stani and her team's professionalism, true understanding of training dogs appropriately, and efficiency with training our fur baby, Mooncake. If you are looking for a board and train program in the SoCal area, we can't recommend IQ K9 enough!!!

I have a very loving but stubborn Baja rescue dog, Mani, that I was not skilled in training. I had done short training sessions with others but it didn't stick. A friend recommended IQ K9 and one other training facility. After interviewing both, I knew IQ K9 would be the one for me. A limited number of dogs are trained at one time and stay in the house (created) as part of the family. There were lots of opportunities for her to get outside in a variety of settings for training. Most importantly, the staff trained me over several sessions and potentially any family members who will spend a lot of time with her. My dog came home with a large new skill set that I am now trained on keeping up with, I cannot overemphasize with a large stubborn dog how important consistency is along with training the owner. It was money well spent and a huge relief to have these skills moving forward. My parents are so excited to see her and now they can take her to visit friends and Home Depot as a 'very good girl' Perhaps one of the biggest indicators that I pick the right place is how excited Mani is to go back to IQ K9's facility and work with the staff. She even smiles for Stani ❤️. Thank you to the whole IQ K9 Training staff!

IQ K9 training is everything that I wanted/needed when getting my dog trained in a way that I couldn't handle myself. I've known for a long time that I have a soft spot when it comes to my dog, so I had trouble shaping commands myself. Stani did a phone consult with me and really listened to what I had to say about what I needed, and even asked what it is that I love about him. She recommended the 3 week plan based off of what I was saying, and made sure that I was communicated with every step of the way. I got check in pictures/updates every few days, and I could tell how much Stani, Luis, and Katie cared about Indy's success. I'm certain that there were other hands on deck, but these were the three that I communicated with. Even when they had concerns that I was hoping not to hear, they made sure to be clear and kind, and let me know the things that Indy was doing well. My biggest fear was that Indy would somehow forget about me or have no personality when he came back, but the opposite was true. He was so happy to see me when I picked him up, and has been a calmer and more confident version of himself since I brought him home. I'm really happy with his results, and am busy working on getting my personal rigidity of command down. He knows what to do, and does it well. I'm so proud of him, and incredibly thankful for the team at IQ K9!
