Island Dog Obedience

We found this company because of our new dog. We originally found her on the street and after bringing her home to a house with one dog and one cat already, we knew it was going to be an adjustment. Our new dog needed training as she had no recall yet. We had also renamed her so she needed time to learn her new name. We were struggling to train her on our own and we reached out to Island Dog Obedience because they had such good reviews. We were paired with Ryan. We were really lucky he got in touch with us and got us the help we needed. After her 2-week board/training, she listens so much better than when we first brought her home. Ryan sent us updates throughout her training so we got to see her progress. He was super easy to communicate with and very accommodating as well. We have already had our new dog board with him when we went on a trip and we plan to have both of our dogs stay with him on an upcoming trip this month. We are very happy with our experience. Ryan is truly awesome! Highly recommend!

Kristi is amazing! We brought our two dogs (6yrs and 8yrs old) for training, we had one 2hr session and it was the most success we have had. Kristi listened to what the problem behaviors were, and what goals we wanted to accomplish then tailored our session to our specific needs. She broke down the training techniques and the behaviors in an easy way to understand and follow. I would absolutely recommend her for training!

Amazing trainers! They helped our Golden Retriever, Mav, during the two-week board and train. From basic commands like heel, stay, and place to even learning how to walk beside a walker for my mother, they treated Mav with love and care just like they do their own dogs, like family. We also did a second two-week stay for service dog training. Mav is now able to help our autistic son when he is overwhelmed, anxious, and during tantrums. They continue to check in with us on how he is doing, offer us support, and answer any questions that arise.

Raya was really straightforward about what to expect and kept me updated every day. Our puppy is so small (teacup maltipoo - 2.5lbs) that they couldn’t use an e collar. They used positive training instead and it worked really well. Billie came back with so much more discipline and ready to please us. She definitely tested us a bit but Raya prepared us for that in advance and communicated with us about how to react. Training doesn’t produce a perfectly obedient pet - the process teaches your pet how to learn and the owners how to help the pet learn to be in your space. We are so much happier knowing how to help her and teach her to be a good girl. I realized that i was only confusing her before by not knowing how to consistently behave in a way she understood what i wanted from her. we can’t thank raya enough! not only for teaching billie to walk on a leash, stay on her place, not run away from us, sleep in her kennel, but bc of the love and care she showed our puppy! That meant the most of all.
