Matt is just great! We had taken our dog to one of those group puppy training, it wasn’t enough and we didn’t know what to do. We got in touch with Matt. He came and worked with our dogs and we saw results very soon after! Our dog really responds well to Matt’s positive reinforcement. Our dog is motivated and excited, something he was not with the other training he had previously. Whenever we have questions about something, we always email Matt and ask for his advice. Everything that he has told us has been extremely helpful in our dog’s training. We are so happy and grateful to Matt! It was the best decision we made!

Matt was not the first trainer we hired - we worked with 3 different trainers before Matt - none was able to give us a positive reinforcement routine that would actually solve the problems we were having, they just addressed the "symptoms." So things never improved. Matt's experience and training is based on behavioral science plus experience with hundreds of dogs. Matt was our last hope - and we've come such a long way in just the 2 months since our first lesson. Here are some of the best things that I can tell you about Matt: My dog does NOT like strange men in or near the house - Matt was her new best friend by the end of the day. Matt's techniques are what's known as Positive Reinforcement - which is proven to be the most successful type of training. You build trust between you and your dog rather than building fear (which is what would happen with punishment training). Matt had a VERY clear plan for being introduced to our dog and it worked like a charm. Matt has a very relaxed demeanor which is great for both people and dogs. Nothing seemed to rattle him. He explained the basis for his techniques which really helps you understand WHY you're doing what he asks you to do. My partner and I are on opposite ends of the spectrum as far as personality and the approach we want to take with training - he handled both of us very well and was able to get to the root of each of our concerns for our dog and the training. Matt's demeanor is very important for dogs who are anxious and reactive, like ours was. If they sense anxiety, it only makes things worse. He just couldn't be rattled - he handled our pup very easily. I saw results IMMEDIATELY! I honestly had NO hope after having 3 prior unsuccessful periods with different trainers before Matt. But there's a reason his techniques work. My dog is so much more responsive to me. I honestly didn't think we'd get this far. There are days when I'm AMAZED at what she can do. Just this last week we got a "Good job!" from passers by while out walking. We're not done but she's come a long way. He answered my initial email within 24 hours and has been very responsive with my follow-up questions. I ask a question and he answers within 24 hours. VERY important to me! I don't like to be left hanging. You can tell that both Matt and his partner Angela, who sometimes work as a team, REALLY want to help these dogs and their owners. They understand that dogs are complex creatures and want everyone to be successful. Dogs sometimes need more than a daily walk to be happy and they recognize that and help you find what works for you and your pet. FINALLY and just as important - I AM much more confident in everyday situations with my pup, because the tools that I use every single time I walk my pup (and many many many times EACH walk!) show the public that I am a responsible and knowledgeable dog owner which goes a long way when you have a "bully breed." My dog is my family member and I wouldn't trust her with anyone else now.

We can’t thank Matt enough for the work he has done over the past year and a half with our rescue dog. We adopted him at five months old realizing quickly that he suffered from severe separation anxiety. Matt helped us develop (and continuously tweak) a plan that helped our sweet boy manage and cope with what was previously nearly impossible. Later, we had Matt back to work on fear of strangers, with almost immediate progress post visit. Matt’s knowledge, approach, and sensitivity are second to none.

Jersey Shore Dogs is awesome! Matt couldn't have been nicer and more helpful and was a pleasure to have at our home and with my family. Matt helped us correct some of the issues we were having as we trained our golden doodle pup. Turned a frustrating situation into a pleasant one and helped us make progress much faster than on our own. With four young kids in the home, it was difficult "training them to help train the dog!" but Matt helped us all to understand the techniques. Recommend highly!!
