Joey Luke's Dog Training

My fiance and I hired Joey to help us with our dog Tonka. When we started Tonka was nervous in a lot of situations including with new people and when we would go to the pet store. He was also difficult to walk. Joey spent 5 sessions with the three of us and really taught Jen and I how to be the leader of the pack. Through our sessions and Joey's advice whenever we had questions Tonka has become an even more amazing dog than we had to begin with. We can have a large group of people over and he takes it with confidence, he also is so enjoyable to go on walks and runs with. At the beginning of this year Tonka was able to help me propose to his mom in the middle of Campus Martius with a crowd of people and he was amazing. We have also used Joey for boarding and he has been great. He is the only person we trust when it comes to Tonka!!! Thank you so much for all of your help!!

Joey is the best! He did some training with our dogs at home and one of them went to his board and train. They both adore Joey now. Not only did Joey take such good care of our boy while he was there ( we got lots of pictures as well as reminder videos of his training), he managed to train our 11 year old, high energy, high anxiety Aussie Shepherd to a point where now he is so much calmer, happier and much better behaved. Joey is incredibly knowledgeable with dogs and really works to make you a pack leader. I would recommend his training to everyone!

Joey did a board and train when our puppy, Stella was about 10 months old. She is now 14 months old. We rescued her from the Humane Society at 8 months. Stella was extremely stubborn on walks by pulling on the leash, reacting towards other dogs on walks, and not coming when called. We felt like we never could take her on walks because it was embarrassing and it became very frustrating. Stella needed to learn some manners! We received Joey’s name from our neighbors who used him and only had great things to say. Joey came out to our house for a training, and we ended up doing a month board & train. When Stella came back, she was a different dog (in a good way)! The results were incredible! We have devoted a lot of time to continuing the training that Joey did and the results are amazing! The best part in my mind is how peaceful it is to walk with her now and how important it is to stay calm and in control. :-) We thank you SO much Joey for helping us with that. Not only have you trained Stella but you have educated us, made us feel comfortable, and now we feel in control. Joey has a passion for dogs and you can tell the connection he made with our puppy, Stella! That in itself made us feel much more comfortable and Stella is so excited to see Joey every time he comes! We are continuing our training with Joey and looking forward to "off leash" training! It is amazing to watch what he can do with Stella! Joey has assured us that he will continue to communicate with us and be there to support us! We would highly recommend him to anyone! Thank you for everything, Joey!!

I was seeking help for my two dogs and was referred to Joey by a friend. I was very leery because of how my older dog is and how protective I am of my dogs. I had him come out to meet my pups and see what if, anything he could do. It was amazing seeing him walk into my house and have my insanely hyper, overly pushy and friendly 11 month old pit mix bow down to him instantly. Joey did not say one word to him, just pointed and Lazlo immediately dropped to the ground and stared at him, waiting for the next command. It was truly insane seeing how he had my crazy pup under control with only moving one finger. My older dog, Bo, a 9 year old hound mix was a whole other story. Bo is extremely untrusting of people and often growls, even when happy. I was more afraid of what he would recommend for Bo. After only spending an hour with joey, I trusted him wholeheartedly. I decided to ship both boys to bootcamp so they could learn and bond together. I knew Bo would have a hard time adjusting and I didnt expect Bo to get much out of it other than learning to trust someone else. Lazlo, on the other hand, is beyond happy go lucky and very eager to please. My dogs have only been home just under two hours and the changes in them after just 3 weeks with Joey is crazy. Bo was a different, more obedient, less stubborn and crabby dog. After Lazlo got home, he did a crazy hop charge around the house and I hoped it was just pure excitement and not that he was already reverting back but to my surprise, Lazlo charged right to his bed and plopped. With Joey, he's learned that you're to remain calm in the house with the "bed" command. I think that was Lazlo's own way of calming himself down, he knew he was getting way too amped up. Haha! What a goofball. I love these two so much, I personally rescued them and I would never ever send them to just anyone. I HIGHLY recommend Joey to anyone, especially to people with dogs with behavioral problems. I always feared seeking a trainer for Bo because of how stubborn and grumpy he is. I can't believe it took me 8 years to find Joey. Thank you for everything. You've gone above and beyond what I could have hoped for them.
