Jornada Setters

Over the past 24 years we have trained and sold over 200 field ready Jornada setters. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of unhappy complaining buyers. All are similar: first, they lack the rudimentary knowledge of bird dog handling. And they never ask for advice which I would readily give to them. In fact Doug has never contacted me. The other noticeable trait is the lack of caring for the young setter. No sign of affection. You must love the animal, if you don’t they feel it and will never have confidence in a person. When Doug threatens to euthanize Nutmeg (our name for this beautiful little setter) on this platform, never contacting us for advise or help handling her-well, that pretty much sums up his attitude. I’m so sad he has her. We loved her and she stayed with us in our home while field training. And she was excellent in her performance. I have five videos of her work, pointing and finding birds and I will share them to anyone on request from our website. My heart is broken for Nutmeg in her unloving, mishandled situation with Doug.

We sold a female puppy to Peter R. Parham on March 7, 2020. The puppy was picked up on that date and a receipt was issued to Peter. This was a litter out of Jornada Stella by Jornada Sam Winston, whelped January 1, 2020. We were late in applying for litter registration on April 28, 2020. Then the Field Dog Stud Book further delayed litter registration not recording it until August 29, 2020. This was a turbulent time with the COVID pandemic and problems caused by it, including obvious problems at the FDSB. I had just hired Ivory and she took over and continues to do all registrations. We actually kept two from this litter and their registration did not occur until January 1, 2021. There is not a late penalty until on one year past whelping. I show no text or emails by Mare requesting registration info, but that may be lost in time.
