When I first took Westley home from the rescue, he quickly became fearful and reactive toward new dogs and humans. It got so bad that I wasn’t sure I would ever be able to take him out of the house except in emergencies since he would even react while we were in the car driving by other dogs. I called Juan for help, and he recommended a set of individual sessions and we got to come to group classes as well. Even when I didn’t trust my dog, Juan did and he taught me how to communicate with Westley so we could trust each other better. My goals were to be able to take Westley traveling and hiking with me, and introduce him to new people and dogs without stress. This weekend Westley went on his first overnight backpacking trip and was sweet and attentive. He befriended all 6 new people on the trip and walked past large school groups and many dogs without issue. His walking was so good that I clipped his leash to my pack and barely had to hold it at all. Westley has also been able to go on weekend trips with me, to coffee shops and breweries and wine tasting tours. I’m also so grateful that I can continue coming to group class to keep Westley’s skills up, and that I can book more sessions as our goals get bigger. Update! It's been about 2yrs since my dog Bosa did the board and train at JPK9 Academy. Until this day, we still attend the group classes because I like to keep up with the training methods that Juan has taught me. This whole experience has been very positive and rewarding that's why I highly recommend Juan as your dog trainer. He's very good in what he does, and trains with positivity and TREATS! I was planning on posting a video but will do so later. We are so grateful and have said multiple times our Cane Corso pup is a different dog! We haven’t had him even 90 days and training with JPK9Academy has been amazing! Highly recommend. Our pup was 6 months when we started training, we’ve completed individual training and will start group soon. We are constantly receiving comments on what a good dog we have! Our rescue Dog Ranger was having some serious issues with anxiety and confidence, we were having a hard time getting training to stick with him. After a few months we realized that we needed to get some professional help, we are very experienced dog owners and have fostered LOTS of dogs, and some times you need a dog to be around other dogs to learn to mirror positive behaviors. We believed thats what our new Dog Ranger needed so we looked around at several different trainers and board and train options and after meeting with JPK9, we found that they were of the same headspace as we were with training and enforcement. It's very important to find a trainer that you know that you will continue the foundation of the training in the same way or it will be a waist of everyones time. Ranger responded very very well to the board and train, he came home a very different dog, new confidence, we now have a clear line of communication with him. He really blossomed with the training and handling, and we now can take him out without worrying about a 90lb doberman pincher walking us and being afraid of his own shadow. Scared dogs are often reactive dogs, and we didnt want an incident to occur because of his fear of the world. After being around the dogs at the Academy, he found the happy dog in himself, understand when we are asking him for something it's not a suggestion, and he gets with the program.
