I am so happy and continue to be impressed with the service. Both Louie ( my puppy ) and I have both come so far. The training and commitment so crucial in results. I have gained confidence as a dog owner and Louie as a puppy now 8 1/2 months at 72 lbs. We have become a team and practice everyday. Juan gives suggestions and positive feedback. It's a wonderful experience which I look forward to continued learning and being trained. So so happy! Happy puppy too! Good boy Louie! ..... he is smiling as well!

My husband and I were looking for basic obedience training for our 7 month old German Shepherd mix Nina. From the very beginning, our experience with Juan and Sarah at JPK9 Academy has lived up to the overwhelmingly positive reviews and testimonials we read online. We sent Nina to 21 day board and train with Juan to help correct behaviors like jumping and digging, as well as frustrating issues with reactiveness to other animals and recall, which was a big safety concern for us. Juan has equipped us with the tools and knowedge to maintain Nina's conditioning. We were blown away by the night and day transformation in her behavior. She has been home from board and train for about two months now, and every day we see her growth and improvement with daily training. Weekly group classes offer invaluable exposure to other dogs in a safe and controlled environment. Juan checks in often about Nina's progress and helps us to troubleshoot and quickly resolve any problem behaviors that arise with our teenage dog. Juan has undoubtedly brought out the very best in Nina. After her board and train experience, Nina is our dream dog. She is calm, aloof to other animals (including many critters she hasn't encountered before), obedient, and well-mannered. You can not put a price on the relationship that Juan will help you build with your dog.

Our pit bull mix, Pippin, had awful anxiety and leash reactivity prior to doing a board and train with Juan. We had tried her on several anxiety medications recommended by our vet, none of which offered any benefit, and some that seemed to make her worse. My wife would be afraid to walk her and our other dog (who is quite well behaved) alone because she’d be afraid of losing control of Pippin. It got to the point where outings with Pippin were no longer fun and even walks around the neighborhood for daily exercise were anxiety provoking and seemingly causing our pup to be worse. We sent Pippin to stay with Juan for about 6 weeks, and it is remarkable the progression she has made in that time frame. She is still somewhat anxious, but her reactivity is significantly improved, and she no longer will try to choke herself to death to reach another dog she can’t get to. My wife has been able to walk her, and we have even been able to take her to the Fountains to grab some ice cream without a hitch. There is still work to be done, but we’re once again able to find enjoyment in doing things with Pippin outside the boundaries of our house, and as a benefit, we get to take our other dog out more as well, as we often wouldn’t bring him solo since Pippin also has some separation anxiety from him. Juan uses a balanced training approach with his dogs and is able to gauge what each individual dog needs to become more confident. Pippin adores him, but I could tell from the moment she had met him she respected him as a confident, fair leader. He took excellent care of her while away and she’s excited to see him at group lessons on Sundays. I feel that training a dog is half on the dog itself but the other half on the owner, who needs to be the leader that the dog needs, and Juan takes a straightforward, no nonsense approach to teaching you how to be that for your dog. We still have work to continue to reinforce the desensitization with Pippin, but she’s had remarkable progress to the point where her most recent group lesson she was in phases by any of the dogs around her. We’re able to bring her weekly to the group lessons which is an excellent opportunity to continue to reinforce obedience training as well as continued desensitization to the many distractions of the outside world. They’re done outside in a large field with plenty of opportunity for things to distract your dog, all with other dogs that were once “bad”. I wish we had encountered Juan sooner than we had, however, I’m glad that we did. Beyond the practical side of training, the board and train itself was an excellent value financially speaking, relative to the cost to board your dog without training included. Pippin needed exposure beyond what my wife and I were capable of, as well as a fair leader to guide her through the desensitization process. Juan had her at soccer games, Home Depot, out for daily exercise, did obedience training around other dogs he boarded, geoup lessons, etc. She really did come back a different dog! Of course, you will need to continue things at home to get everything to stick, but the transition has been fairly seamless without significant hiccups. I’d recommend his services to anyone.

Our yellow lab had nuisance barking and pulled when walking. After going to jpk9 he doesn't bark unless it's appropriate and listens while walking. We went to them a little over a year ago and our dog is a completely different dog. He's so pleasant to be around, and loves to relax with us. Also, part of the training is training the family members. He taught us how to handle our dog and the expectations to have of him. I recommend Juan and jpk9 to everyone in the area looking for a good trainer.
