K9 Concepts Dog Training

Our two German shepherds spent 3 weeks with Gus. Our boys have a very difficult background, and we were rescued them a few months ago. I knew right away that we needed serious professional help, and Gus worked diligently to help our boys become more confident and in control. He also worked with my husband and I, in an unrushed setting, showing us how to continue the training at home and answering dozens of questions that we had. I can't recommend Gus enough.

I can’t say enough good things about Gus Navarro and K9 Concepts Dog Training out of Camilla, Georgia. I put my dog Jax through the 3-week program for basic obedience and environmental socialization, and the results have been nothing short of incredible. From day one, Gus showed a high level of professionalism, knowledge, and genuine care for both the dogs and their owners. He took the time to not only train Jax, but also made sure I understood how to maintain and build on that training at home. Jax came back more focused, well-mannered, and confident in different environments. The transformation in his behavior is obvious, whether we’re at home or out in public. It’s clear that Gus is passionate about what he does and takes pride in delivering real, lasting results. If you’re looking for a trainer who is reliable, experienced, and truly committed to helping your dog succeed, I highly recommend Gus Navarro and K9 Concepts. Worth every bit of the investment.

In my experience I would not recommend this trainer I want to share my honest experience in a respectful and fair way. We invested $4,000 and 1 full month of training for our dog, expecting to see at least some level of improvement. We were not expecting a perfect dog, but we were expecting at least a basic foundation. To be fair, our dog did arrive there very out of control, biting the leash and very overstimulated. We did see some improvement in that specific behavior. However, in our opinion, it came from a type of correction that we were not informed about beforehand and that we are not comfortable with. It’s not a method we believe is healthy for our dog. We were also told that our dog was “under control,” but when we picked him up, he was only responding while using the prong collar. He would only walk without pulling with the prong collar, and for a full month of training, he was still not able to consistently hold a down command for even a few seconds without getting up. That was very frustrating for us. The main issue is that our dog only walks well on a prong collar, which is a control tool. When using a regular leash, he goes back to the same behavior as before. Because of that, it does not feel like the behavior was truly taught, but rather temporarily controlled by the tool. To be fair, the trainer did offer follow-up sessions and additional help, which we appreciate. However, due to distance and also not feeling comfortable with the training methods and corrections, we decided not to continue. We made a very significant investment, and unfortunately, we did not feel that we received meaningful results from it. In addition, during our initial conversation through Facebook Messenger, I explained our dog’s situation in detail across multiple messages. The responses I received were very quick, but it didn’t feel like my messages were being fully read or understood. The tone also came across as very rude and dismissive, which was not what I expected when trying to communicate as a potential client. While I understand that trainers deal with many cases, communication is important, and the way it was handled did not feel professional to me. We chose to move forward with him despite the way the initial communication was handled, and we also chose not to question the price because we truly believed we would see results. Unfortunately, our experience turned out to be very disappointing and frustrating. I made the decision to trust the process, and in the end, it was not the right decision, which I regret. For us, it ended up feeling like a waste of money based on the results we saw. It feels like a paid $4,000 for a prong collar 😞 Overall, based on our experience, I would not recommend this trainer.

Gus Navarro is an amazing dog trainer! We had our dog Abigail go through the basic obedience and socialization training and couldn’t be happier with the results. Before training, we struggled to get Abigail to follow basic commands. Mr. Navarro took time to work with both our dog and us after Abigail completed her training, providing clear strategies that truly work. We’ve seen significant improvement in her obedience, social skills, and overall behavior. I would highly recommend his services to any dog owner.
