K9 Reset

Rich has accomplished what multiple trainers could not: solve the problem of my two rescue mixes feeding off of each others' nervous energy. After Varya and Ada each did a bootcamp and I spent time reinforcing the training, I can now take them to many more places without them reacting to everyone we see. We went camping recently and they were the best-behaved dogs in the camp! I can see their confidence improving by the week. Who says you can't teach an old dog (7 years) new tricks!

Thanks to his week of training with Rich, our Brittany, Alfie will now come to me when he is called (indoors and outdoors). This has been a game-changer for me because at the local dog park sometimes he would come to me, sometimes not. I would have to repeatedly call or try to coax him to come to me with treats, a ball, a bowl of water, or wait for an opportunity to grab his collar. Now he is nearly perfectly trained to come when called, the majority of the time without the e-collar. Walks are greatly improved also- the pulling has really substantially subsided. He also will stay on his dog bed in the kitchen while I am making coffee, and even when I leave the kitchen to get my glasses from another room, and even while his food bowl is on the floor a few feet away. This is a big improvement from running to and fro, and jumping up to inspect the counters and table hoping to find food, or a towel to chew. He will obediently go to his place in our living room and remain there (90% of the time) until he is called. We are working toward 100% and are sure we’ll get there. When I come home from work each night, Alfie remains calm and allows me to take my coat off and waits to be called over to say hello. Previously, the second I opened the door, he would run to greet me, and sometimes eye the opportunity to escape before I had a chance to close the door. So much less stress in our lives thanks to Rich’s methods of reorienting the thinking of both dog and dog owner.
