We can’t recommend Kat the Dog Lady highly enough! We came to her with our 6-month-old Australian Shepherd, looking for a training style that would help set him up for success in the real world. Having previously trained a highly reactive rescue dog with a more intense program geared toward reactivity, we knew we wanted something different for Puppy; something that could build his confidence, reinforce good habits early, and grow his skills in a well-rounded, positive way. From the very first session, Kat impressed us with her ability to read our puppy and understand the goals and needs we were looking for as his owners. She immediately recognized that our Pup needed some confidence and manner building and tailored her approach from there. Within just a few weeks, we went from having a timid, slightly bad-mannered dog who pulled constantly and struggled to walk on a leash, to a more confident boy who respects the leash, understands boundaries, and listens to his humans. And the best part? Kat helped us accomplish this without ever dulling his spirit. Our boy is still the happy, goofy, playful pup we adore… just with better manners and stronger life skills. Kat gave us incredible, practical tips for leash walking, socialization, impulse control, and recall, and everything she recommended WORKED. Even as a couple who had gone through serious training with our previous dog, we learned so much from her, especially navigating the world of puppyhood for the first time. I'm absolutely amazed. I've had my dog almost exactly a year (rescue) and had a few issues that I tried to fix, to no avail. I've owned dogs nonstop, for 50 years and NEVER needed help training a dog till Angus. So, I thought I'd give Kat a call and seriously, after just a couple lessons, basically in two hours, she was able to do what I couldn't do in a year. Watching her and listening to her was very interesting. She demonstrated techniques I've never heard of....then it dawned on me that she was actually training ME the skills needed to be a good owner and friend to my dog. I learned so much about why dogs do what they do...plus she taught me about the traits of this breed of dogs so I can understand why they do what they do.
