Kodiak K9 Training

Our 6-month-old Irish Setter had the absolute best experience with Audrey! When Audrey picked her up, Poppy was a handful on walks—she would pull relentlessly toward every bird, dog, baby, sound, and distraction she could find. She had also recently started counter surfing and jumping on people, so we knew we needed help. The transformation in just two weeks was incredible. Audrey worked wonders with Poppy. She is now an absolute joy to walk, even in the city. She's much more focused, responsive to commands, and far less distracted by everything happening around her. Walks that used to feel chaotic are now genuinely enjoyable. What impressed us just as much as the results was Audrey's communication throughout the process. She kept us updated with regular videos and detailed explanations of the training, so we could see Poppy's progress every step of the way and continue reinforcing the work at home. It was clear how much care, expertise, and attention Audrey put into helping Poppy succeed. We are beyond grateful for everything Audrey did and couldn't be happier with the results. From the moment I filled out the information form on the website, Kodiak K9 was incredible to work with. I received a call later that same day and was able to quickly set up training for my puppy, Poppy. Poppy is a 6-month-old mini golden who wasn’t terribly misbehaved, but as a full-time working dog mom, I knew I needed some extra support—and I am so glad I did. We were lucky enough to be paired with Megan, who truly felt like an angel of a trainer. She and her family welcomed Poppy into their home for two weeks, and I could not have asked for a better environment. Throughout the entire process, I received constant photos and videos of Poppy’s progress, which made the experience so reassuring and enjoyable. When it was time for Poppy to come home, Megan didn’t just hand her back—she took the time to work with me and my family to ensure we understood everything Poppy had learned. That was a game changer. This training isn’t just for the dog—it’s for the owners too, and that made all the difference. I am beyond thankful and grateful to Kodiak K9 and Megan. Short story: Megan transformed our dog! Amazing! Long story: my husband brought home a corgi/blue heeler mix puppy without knowing anything about those breeds other than how cute they are. I was not amused. Barkley barked incessantly and was constantly nipping us and our other 2 dogs. We started clicker training him and he learned commands. We took him outside often to tire him out but the barking and constant nipping remained a big problem. When he wasn’t taking a forced nap in his crate our home was complete chaos and something had to change. We looked for a training program where the dog lives with the trainer and we were happy to find Kodiak K9 Training. We were paired with Megan. She called us to go over everything and she patiently and enthusiastically answered all our questions. I was apprehensive about the e-collar but after Megan explained how it is used I felt much better. She sent us photos and/or videos of Barkley everyday. In every picture/video he looked happy and well and it was apparent that Megan and her family are wonderful people. We were amazed at his progress with each text message. When it was time to come home Megan drove him to our house and spent several hours with us going over all his training. Again she answered all our questions and made sure we understood how to use the collar and how to continue his training at home. The e-collar is an amazing tool to be able to communicate with your dog. It’s only been a couple of weeks and we have found that he doesn’t need the collar all the time in the house when it’s just us. He follows commands and usually is always near me or my husband. Outside we use the collar and it allows us to keep Barkley safe while letting him “be a dog”. Yesterday my husband and I planted 13 trees in our yard while Barkley hung out with us. If he started getting too far away for our comfort we were able to recall him every time. Our home is no longer chaotic. Barkley is able to just chill with us and our other dogs (that never happened before Megan). And he’s still got all of his spunk! His personality hasn’t really changed. He’s just a more relaxed version of himself. We are so grateful to Megan and her family for loving Barkley while he was in their care and for helping Barkley learn how to be his best self!
