Koena K9

Sending my lab pup to Koena K9 was the best decision I have made for him and also for myself. Christa is so amazing at what she does. I was at my wits end, and had no control over my dog, I really didn’t think he was trainable. He is stubborn and likes to push the boundaries like he is in charge. Walking, playing, and socializing were all hassles and everything was so exhausting. If you feel this way I promise there is hope with Koena K9!! Christa was able to teach him obedience and respect. Everything is so much easier, and he is so well mannered in public places. Since picking him up from his board and train I have kept up with all his obedience training and it has worked wonders for us. Christa has always been available by text when I need a quick answer for something training related and also makes herself available for follow up meetings if need be. I have met with her twice since his board and train to work on some other skills and fine tune his training. I could not be happier with the results!

I cannot recommend Christa at Koena K9 enough. My dog Sonny was a pandemic puppy, so he didn't get much socialization. He is a cattle dog who is extremely high energy and anxious. He had issues with listening to us and any commands, walking on leash without pulling, and being very dog reactive. He also would never let us handle him for grooming/nails/ear cleaning without a huge fight. THIS HAS ALL CHANGED AND I NEVER THOUGHT IT WAS POSSIBLE. We went to two trainers before who didn't help much, so I didn't have a lot of hope, but Christa really changed our lives. Sonny can now walk and play off leash, listens to commands, handles grooming, and is no longer dog reactive. I am so excited to be able to take him in public more often now without being embarrassed. Besides being an amazing dog trainer, Christa is also just a great person. You can tell she cares about your dog and wants the best for them, and that's priceless. I plan to continue to use her in the future for boarding since I know I can trust her.

I rescued Blue, a 4 year old 100 pound Weimarener, April 2022. After 5 months of positive training, Blue learned several commands and performed them well when treated. However, his manners and socialization remained a strong concern. Blue stayed with Koena K9 for 4 weeks. When he returned, he was disciplined, attentive without treats, and calm. He also trimmed down to a more appropriate weight. I love my time with Blue. He is fun, social and goofy. He is always up for a hike or a game of catch. And I am confident in Blue’s behavior to take him along on my daily activities such as trips to the store, walking through the neighborhood, visits with friends and family, to the beach and parks, and of course his favorite hiking. Anywhere I am allowed to bring Blue, I do. We also have check ins and follow up lessons to continue building my abilities in working with Blue. And this spring, Koena K9 is setting up social hikes where Blue and I can hike with other friends and canines. We are so looking forward to that!! Thank you for giving me my best friend!!

Christa is a miracle worker. My dog was the worst. He would jump up on everyone, never ever listen, chew everything, and steal my food from my toddler. After training, complete 180. Now this dog walks right by my side without a leash, is perfectly mannered (strangers, other dogs, kids, food, literally every situation), and responds to all my requests. It’s truly amazing. And he is so happy with his off leash freedom! I’d give more stars, but 5 is the limit on this app.
