Long Dog is fantastic! I had never used a professional trainer before but knew I needed one for my new dog. He is a very active high energy breed and it would be a disservice to him to not have professional help. It was really a stroke of luck that I found Long Dog and I am so grateful about that! Heather has been such a blessing in not only training my dog, but training me, to help us reach his full potential. She has a variety of training methods and is equipped to handle all situations or issues, and really makes it fun for your dog to learn and grow! She’s always available with any questions I have, cheers me on, and has given me so much confidence in myself and has helped create a very strong/great bond, with continued confidence and trust between me and my dog. We highly recommend Long Dog! Heather was on point with what our Madison ( daughter ) and Ranger ( the doodle )needed for basic commands. Heather gave great feed back while in session and was very supportive of Madison's goals for the both of them. Ranger who once didn't know what boundaries were is now showcasing respect and personal space, it's not perfect but he has definitely come a long way. One more cool thing! Ranger is doing great staying in command while having a lot of commotion around him. So proud of them and a huge thank you to Heather for bringing out the confidence in Madison.

I was so impressed with Heather’s rapport with our Aussie, Bentley! He was raised on a farm outside with three other dogs, without much human interaction, it seems. He is afraid of everything. He doesn’t know how to play, doesn’t even know what a ball is for. He was never trained, course, but he was ready when he met Heather! They became friends right away! I’m excited to have Heather train our Bentley to enjoy life more than ever!

Long Dog Training: I learned of Heather Thomas through Facebook. I contacted her for help because 2 of our dogs had started fighting, with an older established dog attacking the newcomer. Heather is not only a true dog-friend, but a knowledgeable dog trainer. She truly wants what is best for our "best friends". Heather's advice is sound and she is able to give clear, detailed instructions for your "homework" with your puppy and/or adult dog. Her approach is certainly compassionate, but it also just as effective; especially if you put in your own time and effort while following her lead. Otherwise, just get in touch with Heather. She's wonderful! ---> I have foster cats & dogs in and out of our home so it can be chaotic at times. It is now July. Since March, our oldest dog passed away, we've had fosters go to their permanent home, and added another young furbaby to our home. It has been a time with its ups & downs. One of our dogs in particular became very stressed with the newest furbaby puppy Evie. Tucker is a 14 pound Jack Russel mix; he had a really tough start to his life before being rescued then adopted by us. Enter Evie. She was pulled from a home along with her siblings by a rescue. - background: I had earlier fostered her older brother from another litter. This is relevant because her older brother and Tucker developed a very poor, intense interaction very quickly. The older brother had pushy dominant behavior and guarding issues. After a lot of time and effort, much of those issues along with other very bad habits were resolved. He is happily ever after in his new home. - Now, Tucker was fine with Evie while she was young and small. As she grew to be nearly the same size as her older brother, stronger and more confident; her relationship with our Tucker started to deteriorate quickly. I tried the things that worked in the past for other dogs and it was not getting better. Evie was no longer accepting Tucker's noisy obnoxious attacks until one of us could separate them. She was starting to fight back and even a teenage German Shep/Great Pyrenees mix is plenty large and strong enough to do damage to a smaller dog if it had escalated even a little more. Only a few of you might be able to understand just how disruptive and upsetting this was in a home with multiple dogs, cats/kittens. Heather was able to help us bring calm to the storm. She had insight and exercises for us to start right away. She provided clear directions for steps for us to work with the two dogs having big conflicts, and maintain healthy social interactions between all the dogs. With Heather's help, this situation has improved so much that there is rarely even a threat of disagreement. We continue to consistently do our "homework" with all the dogs so that their interactions will continue to improve. So, IMHO, even if you can only access training sessions with Heather by phone or video call/meetings, I highly recommend you do so. Heather of Long Dog Training is a valuable resource. You will not regret choosing her to train with your dog(s) because she works to help humans help their dogs too!
