I was in the market for a long time, looking for a dog that was the right fit (both hunting and home). I hadn’t made up my mind if I wanted a started dog or a new puppy. I started talking with Marv sometime during the 25-26 waterfowl season about coming out and seeing the kennel and watching him work some dogs. I finally made it out after the season to meet with Marv and Laura. Marv took time to show me the kennel, explain in detail his training methods, and allowed me to watch some dogs work. Having background in working with dogs, I really appreciated some of Marv’s methods and his willingness to show how he trains. Marv had a few dogs he had bought with the intention of selling as started dogs, as they do not breed dogs. I ended up buying one of said dogs, bringing him home at the conclusion of his three month training. Marv was great about communicating weekly, sending videos of training with summarized training updates. The communication continued as the time to bring the pup home drew nearer. Marv sent videos which helped prepare owner training sessions with the new dog to ensure I was enforcing the training that had been done. Both Marv and Laura reached out within the first week after coming home, checking in to see how the transition was going. After all the visits and talks I had with numerous breeders and kennels, I can honestly say I am happy I waited and ended up with M.O.A. I received honest updates, clear explanations of the training phases, and helpful guidance on how to handle and maintain Reaper’s skills once I brought him home. It’s obvious that MOA Gundogs are not just turning out dogs, they’re building true hunting partners and taking pride in every Dog, they send out the door. I can’t say enough good things about this experience. Marv and Lala helped me move from a place of loss to having a new, capable partner I’m proud to take into the field.
