Magic's Legacy Herding

We had a very nice drive down to Legacy City WI and met Shannon who is very knowledgeable about herding dogs and their capabilities. Shannon introduced us to her operation, and laid out how our visit would be. She treated us to a herding demo with her BC Katie, and also introduced us to Ice, another one of her very highly trained dogs. When it was our turn with our 6 1/2 month border collie, Shannon was extremely gentle with her. She did not forced our puppy into anything that she didn't want to do. While our pup didn't pass the herding evaluation (She only was at about 20%) Shannon did say our pup will work and asked us to return in several months as our pup was a bit immature. As for previous negative reviews concerning the use of a stick on the dogs, Shannon did explain that the stick was used to ensure that the sheep would not be harmed by an over aggressive dog. We will be returning when our pup matures. Shannon has a wealth of knowledge as to herding dogs, and, based on her experience, is able to read a dog and assess their abilities. She runs a good operation and we were very happy!

She was completely unprofessional at our test in June 2020. While waiting for our turn, she made two owners cry, proceeded to insult any owner who didn't know how to move sheep (because we all had NO experience, which is why we were there, to be shown, and learn from her) honestly I truly detested the way she handled all of our dogs. One couple left before their turn because they were so appalled by her cursing/yelling at dogs, while she's on a speaker, and ultimately loosing control of a dog. The way she blamed the owners too.. it was incredibly uncomfortable, and if I'm quite honest horrifying. Will not be recommending her to anyone I know.
