At MLK9 Dog Training, we start by teaching parents how to communicate with their pets using clear commands and rewarding good behavior. Our training methods are based on the science of learning theory and modern, humane dog training techniques. We use positive reinforcement as our primary method of increasing your dog's motivation to learn and to behave in a way that you like better than before. We also use "reward-based punishment," which means that if your dog does something wrong that you don't want him to do, you don't punish him , instead, you simply remove the reward for a short period until he learns not to do it anymore. We provide aggression/behavior modification on a case-by-case basis. The dogs will be required to come to the facility for an evaluation before being able to sign up for a board and train program. Any dogs with aggression issues who have been determined to be a viable candidate for our Board.

We enrolled our four month old Australian shepherd puppy, Blaze, in the six week off leash training program. We are extremely happy with the results of the training. Our Blaze came home understanding all of the commands and conforming with our instructions. She enjoys doing what we ask and we are so glad to know that she is safer because she will respond as trained. Although she is very young, we are confident having her off leash and walking around the neighborhood, passing other people and dogs and knowing that she will follow our commands and come to us when instructed. David was Blaze’s primary trainer but all of the staff at MLK9 were extremely loving and attentive to Blaze. It’s clearly more than a job to these people, it’s their passion. We recommend MLK9 for canine training without reservation. We were happy with the results and know that MLK9 stands behind its guarantee to provide follow up as needed.

Max was a rescue that was abused for the first 4 months of his life before we got him. Andy (his trainer) was an excellent resource for him. He was able to teach a much needed foundation which also gave Max confidence, and was able to reach him on his level and move him forward with care, compassion, patience and amazing structure. Their professionalism and responsiveness to any questions we had was incredible. I would highly recommend them for any of your dog training needs.
