At MLK9 Dog Training, we start by teaching parents how to communicate with their pets using clear commands and rewarding good behavior. Our training methods are based on the science of learning theory and modern, humane dog training techniques. We use positive reinforcement as our primary method of increasing your dog's motivation to learn and to behave in a way that you like better than before. We also use "reward-based punishment," which means that if your dog does something wrong that you don't want him to do, you don't punish him , instead, you simply remove the reward for a short period until he learns not to do it anymore. I still keep them separate for the most part, but am confident in their training because they now they avoid each other when in the same space in the house!

I brought in my two german shepherds, one for having concerns about dog aggression and the other for having concerns of human & dog aggression. Andy, their trainer did a phenomenal job with them. He was very informative, and gave me frequent updates with the boys. I’m sure many people are nervous and unsure of who to send their dogs to for training because of the horrible things we’ve heard about various trainers, but the trainers here do an amazing job and really care about all the dogs that come through. One of my dogs who I had rescued only a week before training had an injury to his leg which they took extra precautions with him and he has healed beautifully. If you’re searching for a trainer who will take excellent care of your dogs and will come back with perfect obedience, this is the place to send them to. Thank you everyone, especially Andy for everything you’ve done for us!

After visiting 3 training facilities with our puppy, it was very clear and obvious to hire MLK9 to board and train our puppy for 4 weeks. Huge decision and investment! Great place highly recommend! Was very nervous about leaving our dog for an extended period of time but we got regular updates and lots of progress videos along the way. Having our pup back just a short time we can already see such major improvements. We are so happy we found MLK9 and Andy his trainer was fantastic if your dog needs training you will not regret choosing Ridgeside!
