Modern Dog Training RI LLC

I can’t say enough good things about Modern Dog. Mary was so great with our puppy, Moo. We were nervous going into the first group class because Moo can be a hyper puppy and had trouble focusing around other dogs, but within the first few minutes, Mary had us excited and ready to learn. Moo graduated from class this past weekend and my partner and I can’t stop saying what a great use of time and resources the Beginner Class was. Moo (and also us) learned so much and we are so sad we no longer have our weekly class! If you are considering booking a class, DO IT. You won’t regret it.

We have used Modern Dog for group classes and in-home private lessons for our 9 month old golden retriever, Naga. Their positive reinforcement training practices have been very impactful in our household. The group classes were great and we learned a ton. The facility is extremely clean and well-maintained. Each family has plenty of room to work and classes are small enough that everyone gets plenty of personal attention. We took the beginner class series with Mary and Household Manners. Naga has been having trouble interacting appropriately with our cat, leading to us deciding to pursue private training. We immediately knew we wanted to work with Modern Dog again. Kass and Kristen came by to do a behavior assessment and recommended the appropriate number of lessons based on their questions and observations. They are both extremely knowledgeable and dedicated. We did four private lessons where we gained a ton of insight on why Naga was behaving the way she was and what we could do to change those behaviors. The improvement we have seen in Naga is truly unbelievable. She has learned appropriate coping mechanisms and self-soothing behaviors and is much less unsure about how to behave in overstimulating situations. Whenever we had questions, it was so easy to reach out over email and get the help we needed. I seriously cannot thank the women at Modern Dog enough and will definitely be working with them again in the future.

I took a series of private lessons with the trainer/coach Kelsey. I loved it and I think the facility was great. The training methods are very dog friendly and I learned a ton. I do credit everything we learned and worked on for a lot of the progress we’ve made over the past few months. I feel like I have better tools for addressing reactivity and environmental sensitivity after doing these lessons. Very worthwhile and I highly recommend checking out Modern Dog Training RI.
